Is going to the movies with just you and a girl considered a date? A girl I've known for 3 years that I rarely see anymore went to see Maze Runner with me yesterday. She didn't show up really dressed up or anything(still looked cute though in tight jeans and a sweatshirt) and her schedule that day was already really busy just to fit me in but it was pretty fun aside from the nervousness. Just couldn't quite get myself to touch her dreads (or kiss or hold hands or do the arm around thing) though, especially because I wasn't sure whether it was a date or not. I paid for the tickets before she got there so she paid for the drinks.
Things of note:
She laughed really hard at a couple things I said that weren't particularly that funny.
We waited in the back of the theater until the credits were over just talking and then we went out in the hallway and talked some more until she was late picking up her friend from work.

Id say no date. But it can't hurt to ask her to something else more "romantic". If she says yes, it's a start. If she says no, well you're no worse off than you are now.
