The travels bans should have happened in the countries where the outbreak started.
Especially since West Africa had several Ebola outbreaks in the past 50 years and the bad hygiene, worse medical infrastructure, coupled with superstition, voodoo doctor crap and a general suspicion against every "help" from ex-colonialists is well known.
There is no reason to start travel bans in "first-world" countries that are exactly opposite to every point mentioned above.
Ebola is not an airborne disease and isn't spread by mosquitoes. And it isn't transferred by sexual intercourse.
So, the common influenza virus, HVC and HIV are still much, much more to worry about.

The flu doesn't have a 90% mortality rate. It is treatable with antibiotics. Ebola is untreatable
