Canada is the same age as the US, but far less retarded, belligerent, short-termist etc.
Explain that.

For as long as Canada has been in existence it has had a larger, more populated, belligerent neighbor to the south. Because they have no cause or need to focus on external issues, because they don't have the option of expansion anywhere, they've focused on internal issues.
That said, they aren't that different:

I think allowing America to have a foreign policy was a mistake.

Just think, America could have been as nice as Canadia but for the mutiny.

have you ever actually been to the US or Canada, or is your view shaped by the internet? Just wondering where you are getting your asinine statements from...Dilbert_X wrote:

The US probably wouldn't have so many gun problems if it had stayed in the commonwealth.
It'd probably also have a really good cricket team.

What kind of stupid statement is that?BVC wrote:

Overreacting to tongue-in-cheek comments is so American. If you didn't leave the commonwealth this wouldn't happen.
Also, everybody around the world would be roasting scones and biscuits over their campfires instead of marshmallows.
And we would eat our fast food at McHaggis and Pudding King.

The whole guns thing was pretty much because of the hatred of British rule, therefore colonial love = less guns = fewer shootings.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

But more importantly, with a greater colonial influence tradtional British sports could have been commonplace. Instead of getting drunk for an hour or two while watching a baseball game, you could get drunk and burn couches on the embankment for 5 days during a good test cricket match. Also with the amount of effort you guys put into baseball I've no doubt that a colonial Amercan cricket team would have been a force to be reckoned with. I imagine spin bowlers would be the order of the day, in conjunction with some fearsome batsmen. But alas, you threw it all away.
You don't roast scones, you bake them. And fast food would probably mean more curries and fish'n'chips.globefish23 wrote:

I've been to Detroit and Toronto - I think that's a fair cross-section.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
