I might be wrong but its been said that the Kinect camera must be facing a certain direction and must detect someones face before you are allowed to use the Xbox. So if you leave the room it will automatically pause and when you come back it will turn on. So if you put a piece of tape over the camera, you can't use the Xbox.

Otherwise the Kinect wouldn't be "mandatory". Its designed to be operational 100 percent of the time you are using the box.

I get the feeling MS have pretty much given up on giving the people what they want, and are just trying to make them swallow what MS want. Bit of a crazy business strategy

microsoft's xbox division have been consciously reshaping their brand and product/game appeal towards 'frat boy college' demographics. i read a long rant/expose from an ex-xbox worker (who quit) a few months ago, where he basically bemoaned the fact the managers/honchos were purposefully re-steering the console towards a more profitable jock group. sounds stupid.

The only game for either that's caught my eye is The Crew. I'd probably get a PS4 though, since I've already on the Sony track console-wise. And I wouldn't have to bother figuring out a way to isolate the Kinect or rig a fake signal.

Steam's got a Rise of the Triad page. Out July 31st it says. A $15 pre-order gets you four additional Apogee games. 4-pack is $45.

In my experience, they usually don't add their newest and unreleased games to the Steam-wide Paradox sales. I'm throwing out a guess here, but if they're anything like Amazon, the price of a pre-order placed will refund the difference if a game drops in cost. I wouldn't bank on it, though.
