Unfortunately we never had those options since I was part of the OT6/OT7 year (2006/2007).  They only started introducing those specialized programs like a year or 2 after I graduated.

We only had:
EngSci
CompEng
ElecEng
Indy
ChemEng
MatSciEng
CivEng

I may have missed 1 or 2, dunno.  I'm guessing Physics Engineering was ripped out of one of the EngSci options.  What is that program about?

Thanks Jay.  I can have mods confirm that I have never insulted anyone in my whole time here on the forums apart from 2 of recent where they directly called me out (KEN-JENNINGS and Uzique).  Seems like some people still have scars of where I got them jealous or something with my trolling awhile back.

I enjoyed it but was terrible at it.  I think I nearly failed it in the first year (2.7 GPA I think).  Once I switched over to CompEng, things went uphill but my CGPA still suffered because 2.7 drags it down ALOT.

Luckily marks only matter for your PEY job.  It hardly matters afterwards unless you go to grad school I think (and is also dependent on what grad program you take, MBA programs only require a good GMAT score from what I've been told).

My first employer didn't even ask for my transcripts or my GPA. No one gives a fuck what you did in school unless you're 22 years old and have no job/life experience for them to look at

jay's idea of utopia is being able to hold forth on matters of politics, philosophy, arts and culture without someone who actually sees through his bullshit being there to painfully remind him of his inadequacy.

Wait you went to UofT but now you're in London, England?  Or did I assume wrong?

I'm not sure how employers would even checks marks overseas (they would need to know the relative scoring within that region).  But yeah, I worked at ATI Inc. for my PEY internship and simply went back to ATI (now AMD) after I finished school in May 2007.

And I've been here ever since.  Been wanting to get out of it to another company (Qualcomm) but working here for 5.5 years, I have quite a few incentives that prevent me from leaving.

Samsung wants hard copies of your diploma (down to high school level) and your GPA. My company ran a background check to veeify my degree. Not sure about GPA though. Speak for yourself.

you have to show proof of your marks at every good competitive graduate employer here. you can't just be like "oh yeah i got the best marks" and never have to provide proof. plus it is super competitive for every big company, and the grad-scheme normally filters out people who only demonstrably got top marks. ditto for grad schools. they want to see a stamped transcript for everything. if you failed a module or a test, they will pick on you for it, and question your 'weakness'.

No, I'm a New Yorker, my location is kind of a joke.

I design HVAC systems for buildings in the NYC region.

I did have to show my marks for Google and Microsoft interviews.  But it's moreso to prove you took courses.  Even with my shit GPA, I still got an offer for Microsoft (I didn't make it past third round in Google).

It's all people skills and how you present yourself in an interview.  Present yourself as a friendly sociable person that can get along with anyone and you'll rank highly.  Present yourself as a liberal arts major in sociology with incorrect and condescending arguments and you'll never get a job that pays more than $45k.

I'd be surprised if a liberal arts major in sociology would be doing any sort of computer engineering at google or microsoft.

Well, I'm different and I work in a different industry. I was a 30 year old with a resume chock full of military stuff when I graduated. I wasn't applying at highly competitive tech firms who have a million more applicants than jobs available.

i'd be more surprised if 'sociology' was ever considered a 'liberal art' tbh. sociology is a 'human science' / soft science. not a liberal art.

I don't know where I'd find out average GPAs and such for my university. I only needed to maintain a 3.0 to keep my scholarships, which was never even close to being a problem, but several people in my school were pissed at the honors at graduation. We used to be the College of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Sciences, but a few years ago it got merged with a bunch of other shit into the huge "College of Health and Human Sciences" that included stuff like psychology, hospitality and tourism management. As a result, honors were determined based on GPAs of the whole college, so people who took classes to the extent of "put the meat in a refrigerator" drove the requirements way beyond people in hard science. I think the cutoff for second class honors was like 3.8.
