he is right. there are places where the projects are directly across from these town houses/apartments with white people. they experience little to no crime as opposed to the blacks/hispanics. there is an informal agreement that if they mess with any white person it would be met with a large police presence for days . and that means they can't do business, which no one wants.Jay wrote:

My friend was, until recently, a street cop in Brooklyn that worked in the Brownsville section. He's been shot once and stabbed another time, but finally got promoted and now works in the anti-terror department in Manhattan. Anyway, he told me a funny story at a bar a few weeks ago about a hipster that was walking down the street with a few of his friends when a black guy that was walking by asked if he could borrow the guys phone to make a call. Hipster hands over his brand new iPhone 5 and the black guy runs off with it. Hipster calls the cops and they just started laughing uproariously at him for being such a moron. No assault, no real theft, just a now phoneless idiot.

Oh, and I don't know the ins and outs of the NYPD so I might have mispoken, I think he went from narcots to anti-terror. Not 100% sure.
