I think it's safe to say people who read the book and expect it to be similar will be let down. I'm going to go into thinking of it as a completely independent movie that just so happens to share a name as some book about a similar subject.
Looks pretty cool. I havent read the book so I wouldnt know what to compare it to, but nevertheless I will definitely watch it.

Pitts character would be the author of the report and, by the book, was not involved in the storey's.

I've never read the book. I have nothing to compare the movie too, but seeing as the "zombies" seem to be coordinated it seems like I Am Legend: The Breakout. The "zombies" (are they dead and reanimated, or just infected humans?) seem intelligent but I may be overestimating. They could just be really fast and the reason they pile up or push over buses is just through sheer quantity.

The whole trailer looks awful and if the movie is anything close to it, were looking at one very mediocre flick.
I think they blew the entire budget on getting the title-right and Brad Pitt.

It looks entertaining but it also looks like it missed a huge opportunity. World War Z was a worldwide survival horror nightmare focussing on different people and cultures, a slow build. Pretty sophisticated considering the subject matter. This looks like "Suddenly Zombies!" and then a bunch of action scenes possibly based loosely on key events in the book like Yonkers.
I'm not surprised. It looks fun and entertaining enough to see but not anything fans were hoping for.

From what I hear, World War Z would make a terrible movie and fit better into a miniseries or TV show. But since we already have the Walking Dead, they probably just figured on making something new and using the name they already bought rights to. I haven't read the book, but I'm not going to hold whatever changes were made against the film.
Pitt's production company, Plan B, and Dicaprio's production company, Appian Way, got into a bidding war over WWZ. So I dont think Pitt's making as much as he would doing some other flick.
I wonder how much input Max Brooks actually had. From what I remember he hates the idea of fast zombies so either they crapped all over his input or bought him out.
