Every year like clockwork a friend of mine engages in the 'Bird of the Year' election run by Forest & Bird. Every year he won't shut up about the Saddleback, a black and orange native wattle bird.

But the Saddleback never wins. So every year he fruitlessly goes on the campaign trail.

(I suspect campaigning is not his strong suit after he only got nine votes when he ran for NZ Parliament - possibly because from memory he was televised describing the electorate he was running for as "a dump; I wouldn't live here" - though this number meant he didn't come last either.)

So if anyone was willing to help the Saddleback win this year so maybe he'll shut up next year would be awesome.
