I guess that the other stuff is just overpowered guns and boosts, which probably make the game too easy in the early levels. Later on you'll have found better guns and stuff anyway.

With pre-ordering you are a "Premiere Club" member, and if we're looking at the recent development (COD Elite, BF3 Premium,...) this might indicate that you'll get more exclusive bonuses later on.
Also, Gamestop has an additional exclusive bonus, the Creature Slaughter Dome.
From what I read, this seems to be like Moxxi's Underdome, with waves of enemies to fight. You can carry over the loot to the main game.
Also, you get Moxxi's unique rocket launcher with this.
This Creature Slaughter Dome will be made available for everyone later on, so it's just a timed exclusive.
Nothing specified about that unique rocket launcher though, but likely it'll be included too.

I watched the unboxing and am a bit disappointed that the only thing packed in the actual loot chest was a bobblehead doll. It should have held everything else. So yeah, Steam for me.

Playing as Maya. Level 6, but have only used her Phaselock power once. Too many targets to really be useful this early on.

Phaselock becomes a monstrosity once you start pouring damage and duration into it. Sucks everything into a vortex of acid-zap which you can hadoken-slag for effect, spray bullets or lob grenades at. If your ally is a commando with long-range-deploy nuke turrets, it can be a great way to clear shit out even if there are two other players present and increasing difficulty. And with just one point of healing into it, the regen you and your allies get is pretty helpful.

Me and my friend are playing through #1 right now on the Xbox 360. It's good so far, definitely will buy #2 when we're done with 1.

Definitely do. I'm enjoying #2 even more than #1, which for all it's faults I played through three or four times.
