I'm not sure if they are considered the pinnacle of good taste here. I think they 'just are'. The people that tend to join them, like the people who join golf clubs, usually don't go around bragging about getting into one because it is an common occurrence among them. Sort of like how no one but the try hards brag about getting into internet clans because getting into an internet clan isn't an accomplishment as much as just something you do. I believe it depends on which warehouses your items are in.
I've had things arrive the next day because they were in a local warehouse.
When your ordered items are in different warehouses I believe they move items to one warehouse and ship from there.
Saves money.
