The game actually looks great without a HUD.

I'm more wondering about the goggles that this soldier apparently is wearing.
Instantly reminded of the gas mask in BF2 SF and the tear gas grenade launcher, which in turn reminded me, how one of the BF2 patches killed the awesome blurry gas fog effect.
IIRC, in BF3's single player campaign you're wearing sun/protective glasses at some point, but I haven't seen anything like this yet.
Maybe this (gas?) mask frame overlay is the grain of truth in this photoshop fake.

What's silly is that there is intense sun glare even when you aren't looking into the Sun. Those stupid rainbow circles shouldn't be there unless you are focusing your eyes right in the path of the sun.

I always thought the game was suppose to simulate the eyes of the soldier, not show off some cheap camera effects...

I think the problem is, if you would simulate the flare effect of the human eye (with pupil, cornea, eyelashes and everything), most people would be confused.TopHat01 wrote:

That's why the simply use the generic camera lens flare, most of the time even with a quite visible polygonal shape, resulting from the camera's aperture.
