  • What's the "Power-On Time Count" of your hard drive(s)?

Grab any S.M.A.R.T. utility (I'm using Everest) and post your hard drive power on time below.

Drive make/modelPower-on time (in hours)
Western Digital Caviar 320GB27264
Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB23126
OCZ Vertex2 SSD 60GB10093
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB5933
Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB5902

I'm surprised my Samsung's still living tbh. The access time has increased significantly and it often freezes for 5-10 seconds every now and then if I'm viewing a movie or listening to a song that's stored on that drive.

Pretty sure there was a similar topic to this but I couldn't find it.

The last one is a low number but I got that one on May 30, 2011 and its had 269~ Days of uptime. Is that even possible?

It's been 288 days since May 30th last year. Has your PC been on 24/7?

usually.

If I go away (which I dont do often) I might turn it off and there was a week iirc where I was without power. Maybe 5 days of no power

would be interesting to run this on my numerous desktop HDDs but they're at home . only have a single SSD in a laptop...

edit: is there a utility to measure boot time? if you measure it manually it's going to vary obviously
