Been a while since I've been here, but I've googled and cant figure it out so I figured I'd see if anyone around here can help.

Specs
Windows 7 x64
E8500
EVGA 680i SLi
460 GTX
8 Gigs ram

I put the computer to sleep and it randomly turns back on with no apparent pattern. I've disabled any antivirus/defrag/external hard drive backup schedules. I've shut off the "magic packet" wake setting under "network adapters" in the device manager.

Ideas?

Had this twice this week too. Put my laptop in sleepmode and for no reason it turns on again, but the screen stays black.

Some USB device wake it up?

Shocks from you walking moving the mouse ever so slightly?
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

other than what everyone else said:

it's possible to set a scheduled task to wake the computer to run the task, i suppose it's possible a program could have created a scheduled task in there with that ticked

also you can set the bios to turn the computer on when the power is disconnected and then reconnected to the power supply, doesn't seem very likely but maybe there was a spike in the power or a mini power cut or something? maybe try turning that setting off in the bios or setting it to resume last state.

this, usually in the middle of the night. fucking annoying.

can't be a USB device (keyboard/mouse are the only things plugged in) - usually in the middle of the night so doubt it's vibrations from walking.

I live in an old ass house so I wouldn't be surprised if the the electrical stuff is a little shoddy.

Also there's a "mcupdate_scheduled" thing in the task scheduler that has the "wake the computer" box checked and it's set for every day at 12:07AM (thought it usually turns on between 1230 and 1245) would it be bad to disable it?

i assume its a windows update fuckup.  its still happening to me, if i want to put it in sleep mode i need to hit sleep mode, close it, wait 10 seconds for it to decide to start up again then open and close it again
