What music are we going to show our kids when we are old and say "this was popular when i was your age"? Its going to consist of things like:
BACK THAT AZZ UP. TO THE WINDOWWWWWWWWWW TO THE WALL. ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS. FUCK THA POLICE. SHE LICK ME LIKE A LOLIPOP. VROOM ON THE YAMAHA CHROMED OUT 1100. THROW SOME D'S ON THAT BITCH.

Seriously like its fun now but if i ever show my children what our society considers popular right now they will think we were all retarded or something.

Look at the Grammy results and record sales from years past and take comfort in the fact that while the crap may sell and be considered "popular", what's good stands the test of time.

Of course nowadays crap music is pumped out with much more regularity, I still have confidence that it will fade into obscurity.

I'm going to listen to my music, and hope they like it. If not, they'll find something when they get of the age to start listening to music on their own. I can only hope it's not that Top 40 shit.

Maybe there will be the rare case that they actually want recommendations on what to listen to, similar to my music.

I used my uncle's massive 45 collection as Frisbees. His still brings it up from time to time.
