I thought about getting married here:

But I would've gotten carried away with wanting a horse and buggy and stuff

Nice fountain, brah. Is that one of those houses that are open for tours?
Never heard of The Biltmore?
Jeebus, that's the second person that asked. What's so special about the Biltmore?

It's like famous and stuff

"The Biltmore House, in Asheville, North Carolina, is America’s largest privately owned home. Built by the Vanderbilt family, this 250-room home resembles a French chateau. It houses original art from masters such as Renoir, 16th-century tapestries, Napoleon’s chess set, a library with 10,000 volumes, 65 fireplaces, an indoor pool, bowling alley, and priceless antiques."

I'm pretty sure the estate is big enough that it shows up as a green park on road atlases. Pretty neat.

Oh, it being a national forest is probably why it shows up on maps, haha, duh. Seriously though, what a random place to build such a huge house.

George was brought down here from NY with his mother for part vacation and part for his health ( back in the day Asheville was the place to come if you had bronchitis ) - he liked it and found a nice spot that was accessible to the train and near a fair size river

you should check out england's country estates, they're like the real version of all that imitation crap that the robber-barons had built to try and feel up to scratch.

oh if you're into chateau's, then go to france. i lived in the biggest imitation chateau in the fucking world for a year and that was alright. i thought you were more just into generic country manor / large pads kinda deal. the difference really is only in adornment.

is pretty much the norm in the shires and cotswolds

surrey takes the ostentatious wealth to another level but loses the 'seated gentry' class of the rural 'shires

That looks like what they were trying to do with the new Devon Tower here in OKC.
