I just rooted my Viewsonic GTablet with the VeganTab RC1 rom. It's amazingly fast now, much better than it was before on the stock rom.
Unfortunately, Flash Player seems to be partially broken at this point. I'm still trying to find a fix so that I can utilize websites with Flash content on them.

Only if the battery actually gets into Deep Discharge mode. You will have that issue if you've drained the battery completely and let it sit for awhile, like months. The voltage will get low and the battery will start to degrade, possibly damaging it. You'll have a real issue if you leave it for awhile in this state and try to recharge it. There should be some protection circuitry built in to protect the battery from these abusive conditions, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.Winston_Churchill wrote:
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/arti … _batteriesSimilar to a mechanical device that wears out faster with heavy use, so also does the depth of discharge (DoD) determine the cycle count. The smaller the depth of discharge, the longer the battery will last. If at all possible, avoid frequent full discharges and charge more often between uses. If full discharges cannot be avoided, try utilizing a larger battery. Partial discharge on Li-ion is fine; there is no memory and the battery does not need periodic full discharge cycles other than to calibrate the fuel gauge on a smart battery.
I remember learning the actual reason as to why in class one time, but I forget. I do know that if you completely discharge the battery it will be ruined though
And anyways, the article is talking more about how far you discharge it down. This is because the electrochemical structure of the battery is being used in a heavier manner than if you were to only discharge it down to, say, 20% capacity. Regardless, lithium batteries are only good to 300-500 cycles anyway, and that's rated to about 60-70% capacity at that point. It'll start to wear out after a year and a half under the best conditions (20C and discharged at 0.2C rate and charged at 0.2C rate, which probably won't happen under typical usage). You should start to see less battery life after about a year and half of usage. It's just the characteristics of the lithium technology.

isnt that basically what i said?
Anyone here got a Galaxy Nexus? Would love to see some pics and hear your thoughts so far.
Not exactly. You said you didn't quite remember, but just that the battery would be damaged. I took it a step further and explained what you couldn't.Winston_Churchill wrote:

Lots of PM'ing going on here. Seems a little fishy.
Anyway, still can't get flash to work quite right on my tablet. Going to have to research further.

anyone want to buy my evo? i have no use for it anymore unfortunately
Its so geeky and cluttered! I'd go crazy if my phone was like that.
There's no good reason not to root and plenty of advantages, go for it! If you're brave try some other ROMS and kernels - you can double your battery life, make the phone faster, unlock more features and much more!

Also, my phone is somewhat new to the market. It is a variant of the LG Optimus slider but not exactly the same. My model is LGL55C and I can't find too much on rooting it yet. Its only been out for a month or two to the market.
superoneclick would almost certainly work, but this thread says gingerbreak would too http://forums.androidcentral.com/virgin … ackup.html
most phones are rootable within days so i wouldnt worry too much
id recommend a new launcher too!
