I was looking to reactivate my acc but apparantly wow has been destroyed by the devs or so.
meh.. really feel like digging into an MMO atm but I've never played one that was actually any good bar WoW. (I tried Aion, AoC, WHO, EvE... EvE was okay, the rest were horrible).

guild wars 2 has been the game on everyone's hype radar for like 3 years now. WoW started sucking post-TBC. now it's barely even recognizable. it sucks. gw2 is the last hope for MMO's currently. don't waste your time or money on WoW. you just get suckered into spending time 'achieving' total non-achievements and farming for epic gear that is meaningless (cause all the instances are easy and everyone has the best gear).

GW2 looked great until I found out that in arena style of pvp you're instantly given the max level and a standardized set of "best" pvp gear so that it's 'skill based and fair'. That kind of kills it for me, sounds like a permanent test realm type of thing. World pvp isn't all that great either apparantly.
On the PvE side of things it looks great but the only reason I play these types of games is for pvp really. PvE I'll look to stuff like oblivion and diablo.
Other than that Tera Online has been given a lot of hype lately but I'm skeptical. Looks like AoC asian-style.

afaik everyone doesn't have the same gear - far from it. everyone is just inflated to the same level in terms of hp pool. not skill level or character strength. just given more health so they don't get one shotted everytime. from what i've read a well-geared max lvl player will still be able to kill 2-3 level inflated characters simultaneously. i also come from hardcore pvp background (rank14 vanilla wow). it all sounds good to me.

and in the end I missed out by 3% because some account sharing russian stole my standing
from 10-that point I slept maybe 6 hours a day and had to put a microwave next to my PC so I could eat lol

i co-led the best pvp guildon my server (and later battlegroup) who pretty much had the weekly CP farm on lock. we just nominated a r13->r14 and did it that way.

y that's a much better system. We had a great team but a lot of people were reluctant to make agreements concerning standings so it was a mad free for all to get within the top 5. Not to mention that there were 2 people acc sharing who were on literally 24/7.
The horde team went for only about 5 hours a day max wish I was with them that time.

lol pre-battlegroup was fun. even though you only had about 300 regular opposing faction to play against. you got to know every notorious player. how they played. what their attitude was like (from irc/realm forum, too). even though after like 12 battlegrounds the diminishing honor from the same-HK's would effectively go to zero, you still all had to battle on to rank up. it was so much better than battlegroups and cross-realm instances, where your connection to other players is non-existent. in pre-battlegroup days, everyone had a reputation. being a high rank and sitting in your capitol city meant people walking by recognized you. that was a proper mmo feeling - another world to dip into.
now that's some /nostalgia

Yep, it's what I miss the most. X-realm totally killed off the pvp community on servers, I loved the moment you recognized the opposing ranking premade entering the BG. Big "oh shit" moment right there. You knew their names, how good they were, their gear, where they stood - with ensueing forum drama if you lost/won the match.
That and world pvp. We had some pretty notorious people on our server (Acrono for one, I miss 2-shotting him back when he still had full shadowcraft... was good fun).

how surreal is this?
first item to be discussed in court: world of warcraft
props to breivik though, he got rank14 and full pvp rep as well. i salute a fellow hardcore pvp'er. a true achievement.
lmao the fact they're trying to use the in-game title 'justicar' as some telling form of evidence is BATSHIT INSANE

Prosecution is seriously using his character's name and WoW's relatively minor violence for character assassination? God help anyone in Norway playing GTA with a vulgar Steam name.
speaking of wow what server did you play on uzi?
inane little opines
first early vanilla server was Chromaggus, played with <Wipe Club>, got famous cause of the Onyxia wipe tapes (you may have heard).
then guild moved from Chromaggus to Boulderfist, where i played most of my time PvP'ing the grind to r14 and co-leading <Off Limits>, who quickly rose to the top of the Misery battlegroup when they introduced them.
when TBC launched i rolled a belf on one of the new tbc-reroll servers, Auchindoun. hardcore pve'd that char up to SSC's release, got bored.
after that i moved to Ravenholdt to play the other expac packs casually, and because of IRL friends, where my characters still are.

Why would anyone put up with a gleader like that.
inane little opines
he was funny, and actually a really good raid leader. wipe club remained one of the top pve progression guilds throughout early vanilla. he was a tough taskmaster but he got shit done... and you needed someone like that back then, with 40 people. he was also a pretty good BF2 player - we used to play together a lot.

Can't stand it when people start shouting in a game, I'd /gquit as soon as that happened.
Played on shattered hand myself, went to frostmane with the migration in '06 with dragonmaw migging in a few months later, got r12 there. Quit with TBC (played for about 3 months but didn't like it) came back in WOTLK, started up again on Magtheridon in <Humble>, which ended up being a pretty succesful pve guild. Migged back to Frostmane, did some pvp, migged to Outland alliance, migged back to Frostmane again and did some more pvp and was pretty succesful with some rather unconventional setups (2300 mage/warr, 2350 ele/dpriest/warr and top 5 in 5v until our sham quit and it fell apart). That was in s7 when wizcleaves dominated.
My chars are still around on the armory, activated the 10-day trial recently but can't be bothered to log in anymore. Done with wow.

played on Boulderfist as well for a short while I believe. Got a 50 paladin there and (had) a 70 warr there.

lol s7. i stopped arena after s2-3. one of my in-game friends that i shared some teams with got gladiator in season1 and got the armored drake. i was into that for about 2 weeks but realised how shit arena was compared to bg. i've never really rated people that talk about their arena system rating to be honest. the whole thing was just flavor of the month and copy+paste builds from the web. even with 'unconventional' ones. the game put way too much stress on a style of pvp and competition that it just wasn't good at - some combos and builds were just better than others. not to mention that the introduction of resilience is possibly my least favourite technical change that WoW ever made.
none of my chars are on the armory, i just checked. probably not going to ever sub again. MoP looks like a real sick joke to me.
