What direction does the radio beacon spawn in?

Does anyone know what determines the direction in which you spawn in your parachute when spawning off a radio beacon?

Clarification : when you place a radio beacon down outside somewhere on a map and respawn from it into your parachute, what determines which direction you are facing when you appear in your parachute up in the air?

Note : it is not always the direction that you are facing when you place the beacon
it is not always facing towards the enemy main base

Exactly.
I want to be able to place my radio beacon so that I can parachute onto specific rooftops and other terrain features.
Have tried many times to place the beacon specifically so that I can parachute onto the top of the small radio tower at the Hilltop flag point on Caspian Border (provided it isn't blown up already). It always faces me in a direction that does not allow me to get there.
Did it once by bailing from a jet and have yet to find a better sniping spot on that map. The big radio tower is a bit far away from the action but this one is perfect for covering pretty much all of the flag points.
If you knew which direction you'd be facing when you appeared in mid-air in your parachute (which is what I want to know) then you could place your beacon with precision to allow you to access specific areas of the map.

Have a think about what the parachute spawns will enable you to do once the Karkand and Sharqi maps come out.
Every roof will be accessable.

Finray I've been doing just that (plant beacon, throw grenade, jump on grenade, die, respawn on beacon) for the last few days just to try and figure this one out.
It appears to be totally random which direction you are facing on the first respawn but every subsequent spawn on the same beacon (given that you don't spawn recon and have the initial beacon explode) will face you the same way.
It's got me stuffed but I'm still trying to find out.
Must have grenaded myself about a fifty times so far just to respawn.

the direction you were facing when you last died?
the opposite direction you were facing when you last died?
the direction whatever killed you was in relation to your last life/death? (if that makes any sense... - i.e. if whatever killed you was to your northeast then you spawn facing northeast)
facing your nearest enemy?
facing your nearest team member?

k i'm out of ideas...

Thanks for the ideas but unfortunately I've found none of those to be the case.

Plant one at the docks on Kharg and it spawn you into the ocean,
Plant one at the forest on Caspian and it spawns facing the radio tower.

I'm beginning to think that it may simply face you away from the exact centre of the map.

Nah, I'm not quite that OCD.
As I said above I want to be able to parachute onto specific terrain features.
The apparent randomness of the spawn direction makes this very difficult though.

You can press escape and select suicide.

Also in the Beta there was a certain direction you faced with the old spawn beacon, I think you faced 90 degrees to the right from where you were facing when you planted it.

Sorry, tried placing a beacon on exactly the same spot with it facing north, south, east and west.
You still spawn facing the same direction.
Why it's that direction I still don't know.

Tried facing it in all directions in multiple places on all the outside maps.
No consistant result as far as I can see from many attempts.

The OP is exactly why BF games will always be better than the average FPS. Imagination. Sandbox-style play. Ingenuity. I still remember camping the Essex. There's no analogue in the other shooters.
