Compared to BF2 or CoD2 then yes they're quite good, but compared to what's coming out today? No. Not a chance. Not with the Quake 3 engine and DX9.

There's game engines and then there's heavily modified game engines. Did you know that Source is also a descendant of Quake? So yes, I do mean that they're still graphically pleasing even if they bring little new gameplay to the table. You don't need the latest directx 15 doohickeys and tessellated acne with a dozen iterations in a video game for it to have decent visual design.

And what I'm saying is that they are graphically pleasing despite the fact that they are working with an (albeit heavily modified) old engine. I'll take that over the weird texture loading I experienced early on in Rage and its perpetually brown environments.

The new CoD's look great and can actually run on the average PC. I can't even complain about the narrow missions because by now everyone knows to expect that. The only thing that irks me is it's still more of the same. I can't really say that I'd like to see a fuck ton of vehicles in multiplayer, because that'll be BF3's thing.

Well, I don't need it to look like Crysis 3, but for some people graphics are just...everything. Who's to argue?

But graphics aren't not the reason I'm not enthused about this game. For what it is, it looks great. I never thought it'd be possible to refine some of these engines to what they are now.

Weather I like it or not I've come to grip that i'll be buying this game. I have ALWAYS thoroughly enjoyed the game and what it has to offer. BF3 may be far superior but I still enjoy me some COD.

Something tells me this game might be half way decent. They got rid of kill streaks and nukes apparently. Also the "Kill Confirmed" game mode sounds interesting.
