After the recent scare of government tapping. Is it really safe to talk anywhere? Search engines are being checked, phones lines are being jacked. We could be honed in on when we're out in public. Is mass communication being threatened in the U.S. and why does Bush think that it'll just blow over and not do anything.
YOu're right! The secret police is probably at your door right now! Run! Run!

They are not tapping your phone line, they are getting phone records from the phone companies. This isn't anything new, Bush didn't start this. The NSA has been doing this for quite some time now. I love how the ignorant try and bash Bush for this.xX[Elangbam]Xx wrote:

Have they been doing it on that scale though?
What scale? They simply get phone records from the phone companies, and if someone is calling a known terrorist whom they are keeping tabs on, well you get monitored as well. Only those with something to hide should be worried. These records are used by local Police, and Government agencies as well to solve cases. It's not like the NSA is making these records for their sole purpose, these already exist, and no one is complaing about the phone companies having them.Bubbalo wrote:

Wear a tinfoil hat so they can't read your thoughts.xX[Elangbam]Xx wrote:

either way.....if youve nothing to hide, why does it really matter? Yes i know its kinda like you dont have a sense of security, or a freedom is being taken away...but it doesnt even phase me to hear about stuff like that. I have nothing to hide from them, so they can snatch my cell phone record all they want, and they will see ive talked to the same 5 people and the same 8 phone numbers for the past month. My mom, dad, girlfriend, a friend in Florida, and a friend that lives here in town. Go ahead NSA, feel free.
I don't know why people are so worried about this. What are you doing, who are you talking to and about what that has all you liberal hippy types so scared? The NSA doesn't really care if you're calling your contact "Booger" to score a dime bag of seeds and stems of dirty Mexican brick!!!
and then a -1 karma without a name or reason
I want a tin foil hat too
Wait.. My wife says I think with my D**k, so I'll need a tin foil condom.

Haha, I´m so happy I don't live in The States:D
I've gotten -3 karma for my post...
I tried to +1 you for this comment -- for being an educated American not a lemming running in the panicked herd the media catalyzed -- but I've already +1'd you today. haha. too bad I can't +2 you. cuz I would.psychotoxic187 wrote:

DID YOU KNOW:
1-your phone conversations (still) cannot be listened to without a warrant.
2-If someone in the NSA accidentally hears your phone conversation, they are required under penalty of law to hang up
3-If someone in the NSA accidentally hears your phone conversation and they hear that you are going to do something bad (aka assassinate the president), it is illegal for them to tell anyone
4-If someone in the NSA does tell someone about your phone conversation planning to assassinate the president, they go to jail for a minimum sentence of 20 years, and they do not even get a jury trial.
5-If they do all of the above, you would be acquitted because they gathered their evidence against you unconstitutionally
DID you know that you are being told lies? there are no wiretaps. President Bush does not stay up past his bedtime listening to you tell your girlfriend how hot sex was last night. President Clinton probably did. Did you know that nothing the president has authorized has been unconstitutional?
Before you hop on the bandwagon, learn a little about your government. And also learn a little more about your media.
WTf is with everyone thinking they are being "spied" on?
Are you a fucking terrorist....or otherwise involved in shady plots of world domination? If not........you ain't got shit to worry about. No one is listening to your conversations on the phone (that are likely 900 numbers...no wonder you're so paranoid).......or watching you masturbate 10 times a day inbetween going for your War College Ribbon while you play BF2 37 hours a day.

PS- When I say "you" I am not referring specifically to anyone in this thread.

Yes, that is all true. Except I'm not sure about number 2. I think they just cannot tell anyone about it, or do anything about it, as it's illegal, and like you said will get a minimum of 20 years with no trial. People hear what they want to hear. Even if they are listening who cares? Are you calling terrorists?G3|Genius wrote:

The only reason you have to worry is if you have something to hide...
I honestly dont care what our government does. Even if they dont publicize it, they will do it anyways...
If a U.F.O. Ever landed on earth... we would never know because our goverment would hide it from us, and we might already have one hidden away somewhere. The CIA will always know more than us.

Well, the media has stopped making such a big deal about it. What new ideas will they bring up to use against Bush. Probably the war in Iraq again. Actually, I was listening to a liberal radio station the other day and they were talking about how if the president had a form of evidence that there might be Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq then it was okay for him to go to war. Were we to just sit on our asses and hope everything would blow over?
Bush has been smart to let those things that happened in the past to stay in the past for the most part. He needs to focus on what is going on now and in the future so he will not make decisions based upon the past but upon what the future might hold. We need to leave the past behind and plow into the future. But unfortunately we have the media who likes to bring up stories to bash presidents.
(can you tell I am slightly biased to the conservative side? Except when I can vote in the 2008 election, I will probably register Independent, because I still disagree with things Bush has done.)
(I could, according to my friends, talk about religion and politics, til the day I die. And the funny thing is, I would enjoy every minute of it)
