I'm just being real to all the casual players who represent most of the poker players in casinos and pokerstars and who i see on here. How do you think poker sites and casinos make their money? Unless you are in that small percentage of people who do it constantly with a plan dealing with variance etc. You are relying mostly on luck and wont make money in the long run. Be real.HaiBai wrote:

Making it a skill...Roc18 wrote:
If you're a casual player luck plays a huge factor. Not everyone is gurdeep playing that many hands over a course of a year. Shit is luck unless you know exactly what you're doing.
Actually they make their money from rake, i.e. they take a small percentage from each pot. You don't play against the casino or the site in poker...Roc18 wrote:

I'm saying the majority of people aren't gurdeep man. And that fact is why he makes money, casinos and internet pokersites make money and why its considered "skill". If you are a normal everyday player then poker is mostly luck because you aren't using "skill" to make money you're relying on basic instincts.bennisboy wrote:

I could try to predict the weather on a daily basis, and without knowing what I was doing, it would be purely down to luck...
I could be put as a QB in an american football team, which I've never played in my life, and whether I made a pass would be purely down to luck...
I could be put in the army and given a gun, whether or not I died would be purely down to luck...
Your argument be retarded juvenile
umm they also take the money people lose as well lol. That money doesn't just disappear. Poker of course the money distributed among players but other gambling games where you plain lose to the house they take that money.bennisboy wrote:

There are a lot of sites out there that can help. Very few people are born poker-players!

I should focus my energy on trying to get a job instead
Except we're talking about poker, not casino games...Roc18 wrote:

i've been coached a few times. now that i'm down here, i get to watch sickos for freeHaiBai wrote:

I don't mean in poker, I mean in the other games. But whatever that's just my opinion on poker. Most people won't have "skill" and luck will play a huge factor in that case.bennisboy wrote:

So no they don't take the money people lose. I suggest you take some time to actually learn what poker is, cos you don't sound too clued in...
hmm, because i deposited $30 on FTP and played SNGs for like two months. i managed to win quite a bit but i lost a little more then i won, so i slowly lost most of my money. i just got to a specific point and i wasn't really sure how to get bettergurdeep wrote:

the ratio of skill to luck in poker is constant. someone who sucks will lose money. someone who's mediocre will break even. someone who's good will make moneyRoc18 wrote:

reading the strategy forums on 2p2 works wonders if you can't afford coaching. i definitely wouldn't be playing poker still if it wasn't for those forumsHaiBai wrote:

i mean if you don't know what you're practicing, you won't get better. you need to use sng wizard and pokerstove and talk to people about certain hands/spots all the time to constantly try to improveHaiBai wrote:

how do you go from a sucky player to a good player? the same way you improve at any area in your life. practice
The money that people lose goes directly to the person who wins the hand. Poker sites make money by taking a rake from each pot, usually a very small percentage.Roc18 wrote:

yeah i spent a ton of times reading those forums. i also had that software that tracked all of my hands and told me how i was losing money. it's just that i didn't really know how to apply that i guessgurdeep wrote:
