Oh no. The Venezuelan air force is going to be refurbished and piloted by Iranians. Whatever shall the US do...

Good point,
Mcminty,
As such, the US is a rogue state.
I can see this veering off topic as per usual! Bring on the American bashing, followed closely by crazed right wing Americans, who is countered by the disgruntled left wing European guy, this is usually, though not always, followed by the WW2 argument and "we saved your ass"/"we didn't need you"/"you used the bomb you bastards" etc etc............
rofl...yeah, I guess that sums it up pretty good. If I had Karma left, you'd get +2 for that one.Jepeto87 wrote:

Now, back to the topic at hand. Venezuela obviously has no use for the F-16 any more, since the US has stopped supplying spare parts and software updates. It brings in some money and it is a provocation of the US, given the current tensions between the US and Iran.
exactly what i was going to say. Not to mention...the minute they left the ground, or were boarded on a ship and the ship gets out to international waters....i think the boat would mysteriously sink. Or would be stopped and taken into U.S. custody...or if the jets were flown, I think they would probably be intercepted and shot down. But thats just my take on it.atlvolunteer wrote:
SO because we're not going to sell him more arms, he's going to sell the ones he has to a country that we don't like? That is just stupid. Talk about spitefulness.
Actually, no. I'm not arguing that the US is a rogue state, but rather that Iran isn't, through showing that if Iran is the US is.Jepeto87 wrote:

Ah, yeah, sure, that wouldn't cause an international incident or anything{BMF}*Frank_The_Tank wrote:

Not supplying spare parts and/or software updates for the systems in the jets, is only because it lets us maintain air superiority over them. Unless they are a close alli, (Isreal, Britain, etc), I understand why they dont supply parts and system upgrades. If we were fighting on a level playing field, we would lose more people in battle. So make it uneven to favor our side....we win more, and lose less people. Its a smart war strategy. Anyone who thinks we should sell other countries our newest technology and continuously keep it updated for them, even tho we arent that great of allies with them is just plane nuts.
Im not saying anyone said that, but for instance it would be insane to sell Cuba F-22 Raptors and all the latest missile technology and updates for the jet for the next 15 years, since they are stealth to radar and our government hasnt liked them for a pretty long time. Even if they didnt have the intention of attacking us with them...we still keep our military advantage, which is a benefit and a key role in being a "super power". This is all just my opinion....im sure ill piss someone off with it though, the one person that thinks we need to make the wars even, just like teams should be even in BF2 lol
Im sure it would cause an incident...but for something like that, i personally wouldnt care what it would start. If it helps out our military standing and keeps us from losing more soldiers or U.S. people in general, i would be in favor.

well, if we have to discuss this, I am pretty certain the contracts with Venezuela state that there shall be no resale of the arms supplied to "certain" countries, aka "Rogue States". I figure Iran would be on that list.
From that point of view, I guess the US would have every right to stop such a deal from going ahead if they consider it necessary.

Who cares...old technology...we keep the good suff for ourselves...(just like any other country).
Firstly: I agree with everything else you said in that post.{BMF}*Frank_The_Tank wrote:

Secondly, saying you don't care isn't enough to make it worth the US' while to do it. They're international relationships are already strained, destroying another countries jets could easily be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
I know saying i dont care isnt enough for them to do it. Its just my opinion on it, although I dont see them destroying another relationship with another country, because like you said, international relations with some are strained enough, and they may just throw it over the edge.Bubbalo wrote:

Yeah, but you fail to look at the wider picture. Blowing up those plans would constitute an act of war on a country which isn't even vaguely a threat to the US, something which the US has avoided doing up until now.
Hugo Chavez is just another Banana Republic dictator hoping to take the place of Fidel Castro, only he has some oil to fund his fantasies with. All his political swaggering amounts to nothing more than a publicity stunt, including his offer to subsidize oil sales to Americans. These jets will go obsolete (if they aren't already) just as fast as Iran's F-14 fleet (what was it 70 cats useless in a matter of 6 weeks?) did without US tech support. I hope to God he cuts off his oil supply so maybe we'll start tapping some of our own that the goddamn hippies keep cockblockin us from. For those that don't know, CITGO is owned by Venezuela and I for one don't bother to fill up there.
my cousin is venezuelan
I think the US's official statement to venezuela should be "big whoopteee fuck Hugo just don't do something real stupid that gets you killed.". So what, Iran will have 21 jets shot down by Israel when they try to bomb them.
Hugo is just poking a tiger with a stick, too bad for him the tiger isn't caged. I dare Hugo to poke harder.

No israel has not threatened to wipe another country from the face of the planet, with comments of that ilk coming from countries oin the same region and given the recent history Israels military looks like a sensible deterrent to me.
dude, do you not understand that palestinians and israelis are now, and have for like 60 years been fighting over the same 40 square miles of fertile land in a desert full of OIL? It isn't about wiping each other off the face of the planet, it is about SUPPORTING THEMSELVES. Israel, does however, own the ace of spades, what with its reach around / cocksucking lover the USA. Jews + Christians = Big brother and his pals against Muslims - Us the nerds of the world.
If you believe for one second anything you read in a US paper, or see on US TV then you my friend, are the cork board where we hang the rest of the tools.
