I've been playing it all summer. I'm far more a fan of Empire and Napoleon than the more melee-based ones.
I am too. I wish napoleon had a better campaign

Played some of an old France save tonight. Always did enjoy playing as them. Russia is fun too if you enjoy micromanaging an economy and essentially starting from scratch.

I really enjoy playing russia atm, I didn't enjoy England as much but I think I might start a new England game.
I got it in the steam summer sale and been playing ever since.

I finished my Prussian one and started Russia yesterday. Won a sweet victory in Crimea with only 2 Cossack Infantry and the rest were melee/cavalry.
I want a WW1 one to come out. Anything past WW2 might be a bit hard to manage though I think.

I expect the Civil War would be about the last thing they could do (or Franco-Prussian). That's about the last time line infantry was used.
everytime i start playing this game again i lose interest when i think about how much better the battles in napoleon are

I wish Napoleon widened its world perspective through patches. It's hard for me to go back to E/NTW for the map strategy element when Europa Universalis is so much more thorough.eleven bravo wrote:

I was trading at full scale, but i didnt have anything to trade with. the european rebels kept setting my shit on fire and i was too busy building armies to fight the rebels. if i ever play grand campaign, am going for north afrika and east. fuck the west, bullshit ass christians

i had something like that yesterday, was defending and they breached the wall, so i setup my guys in the armoury next to it and guys on the walls and a cannon facing it. Was a total massacre, one unit got 400 kills.
good artillery line with canister shot makes short work of... well everything
I don´t really like the siege battles though, the AI bugs out on a regular basis. It´s a bitch to get a full regiment set up straight on the wall.
Sieges totally suck, especially when the AI shits the bed and bogs down my computer by trying to send a thousand men up and down a single set of scaling ropes
I didn't buy NTW because of the small scope, but if the AI is as good as people say, it might be worth it... Empires AI has always been a joke. I don't think I've lost a battle in years.

I usually shoot as many holes into one wall as possible and then storm those fools. But as I recently discovered, repairing after taking the town does not include the walls. How stupid is that?
Known bug. It's better that way anyway, they'll just come pouring through the gaps in the next siege and you can cut them down with canister
