Austrians are dicks, they´ll always start a war sooner or later. I hold most of Europe so far and even though 'Merica is split up similar to you, there are plenty of indian territories left. Go for them first to establish a foothold.
Sweden is tough, but only if you let it move out into Europe, because the top of the world allows them only two paths to attack or defend really.
With Europe from the Rrussian border to the French border, one colony in India and the Pirate territories in South America plus a few in the northern part you should have enough to win.

Just started my invasion into persia, going to split off to take care of the ottomons in the north of africa, while at the same time hoping across from greece into africa to mop them up from both sides. Hopefully that way I shouldnt spread my forces to thin, yet keep them big enough to keep up the momentum.

As Prussia I've just gone to war with Poland and Russia as the Maratha close in from the other side. They're both pretty bankrupt and I've got a million in the coffers, not to mention my superior troops and tactics. They're screwed.

I started to invade Persia, they called for a peace treaty and I took it, rather then spread my forces out to concentrate on ottoman. Fucking venicians declared war and took Greece that was empty. My fault I guess. I will destroy them. Also ottoman took all my ports.. Really wish the game would tell me when they do that I was bankrupt for a turn

e: desert how the Fuck did you get that much money? Do nothing for twenty turns? I hold half of Europe with fully upgraded and prosperous town and infrastructure and I get about 6k per turn after buildings and upkeep. Maybe my Russian bear is just too big.

It's the 1780s and I've not been at war with any real threatening nation for a good 20 years or so. I've been able to upgrade all my buildings/towns and finished all research. I even even had to scupper some of my trade ships because I had too much supply which drove the prices down. I found that automanaging taxes got me more money than manual somehow, and I've just been building fortifications and fully upgrading buildings, but money snowballs once you get to that pace. I had been giving around 30k in foreign aid to Ottomans, Britain, and USA to keep the Poles and Ruskies from building up too formidable a force.

EDIT: Also, France is always a good region to have. Loads of building sites and resources can make it quite valuable.

Ah. I'm still 1730s I think. Do you hold enough regions to complete the game or? I would always see myself fighting for more land

How is there still a Poland in your games? That were the first duders I annexed.
Adams, I had about 15-20k per turn in my 30s. I bumrushed most of Europe early on, then went to fortify and build up an empire, being at peace with everone.

Started playing a bit more TW recently. What with Victoria 2, Hearts of Iron and the rest, I can now throw my focus on the battles themselves rather than sit around staring at the map.

I should probably start doing that now, I have too many big armies so upkeep would be a fortune, so I'm not entirely sure how much I earn per turn, plus so far I have had buildings on auto. I just choose what the first step is and let it upgrade them itself. I end up with sometimes as high as 7k and this last turn I was bankrupt. Mainly due to ottoman having my ports without me knowing

Yeah, blocked ports and trade routes are a bitch.
It´s now past 1760 and I have an enormous army, worth about 30-40k in upkeep. To secure your borders it often is enough to have one powerfull force garrisoned well. I used two strong armies to the East to keep Russia (and the Ottomans) from having ideas and one to the West to hold off those crazy Frenchies.
The rest is busy holding my single colony in India against the whole of the Marathan Empire and battling for the crumps the other expansionist powers left over in the Americas.
I still make about 30k each turn though. Europe is a gold mine. Austria and what is Germany today have some serious assets.

Tried to play this again last night, took paris, but then just got bored, the battles really aren't very interesting with rifles.

I felt a bit the same after my first twenty mins when I started again a few days ago. But once I got a bit of momentum and a bank roll behind me I had a lot more fun. Also artillery is where its at

I was allied with Poland in the beginning since Prussia only starts with two territories and Austria declared war on me, and later Sweden did as well. I pretty much tookover Austria and united all the Germanic people under one flag (after Wurtemburg took out France). Meanwhile Poland was kicking Ottoman ass and pushed them back to Syria (so they were too big for me to want to take. I took Spain out and began marching along North Africa to link up with the Ottoman border. I had been expanding into America at this time as well (since Pirates were a nuisance and lots of former colonial territories were controlled by rebels. I owned Canada, most Caribbean islands and everything from Venezeula east in South America. I was on good terms with pretty much everyone when I gave Poland my Maryland territory since it was surrounded by the US, who were my ally also but meh. I broke the Polish alliance and they got kicked out of North America. The Maratha were dominating everywhere in the Middle East and pushed Russia down to two territories. With my rakes destroying Polish industry and bankrupting them and their allies/protectorates rather weak, I captured the Balkans and an Army from Estonia (true paradise) to Lithuania as well as hitting Courland. Just captured Poland territory proper last night, and they've only got two left.

Correction: not very interesting with muskets. Rifles (esp. Prussian Jaegers) make everything A LOT more interesting :-D Either way, I like firearms way more than the melee/arrow based ones.

EDIT: Maratha are being total bitches about the Russian territory though. If they sell me Ingria, I can link up Scandanavia to mainland Europle by land, but they won't even take industrial tech and 250k. Fucking skanks.

I love how every campaign unfolds differently. I fought Poland first, because I was afraid they would become too strong, especially with Austria declaring war within the first years.
But those Marathan skanks piss me off too, the pushed a bit behind Persia, and despite having great relations with them they attacked what was formerly Maissur and is now under Prussian rule.

They woke the wrong dog!

Start guide to Prussia I wrote a few years ago:
So this is my rather simplistic guide to getting started as Prussia. I say simplistic because I won't be touching economics or grand strategy. This is simply a walkthrough on how to push out of your meager beginning position and into one of strength rapidly.

First turn:
1) Research carbines.
1) Get trade agreements with Austria, France and England.
2) Build 4 units of line infantry in Berlin.
3) Move troops out of Berlin and take Saxony. Fix buildings, destroy inn and replace with school. Replenish all line infantry + general.
4) Move small stack outside of Konigsberg to Gdansk, demand surrender.
5) Move the stack that took Gdansk towards Warsaw and move the three units in Konigsberg to meet it.
6) Build 3 units of line infantry in Konigsberg. Destroy inn, replace with school.
7) Get trade agreements with Courland, Westphalia and Bavaria.
End Turn (you will have to fight off an attack by 1 militia and 1 pikeman in Konigsberg mid-turn with your firelocks. Simple)

Second turn:
1) Move the line infantry you created in Berlin to Saxony, delete the militia, pikemen, cannons etc. Line + General only.
2) Move the stack near Warsaw to besiege Warsaw.
3) Move the 3 line infantry from Konigsberg to join the siege at Warsaw.
4) Take Warsaw. Fix buildings, Replenish all.
5) Take 1 line infantry (one should have large movement range) + general and head towards Lithuania.
6) Build 3 line infantry in Konigsberg.
End Turn (another militia/pike encounter if militia wasn't destroyed after first round)

Third turn:
1) Send the three line infantry you produced in Konigsberg to Lithuania with the previous 1 + General. Take Lithuania, fix buildings, replenish.
2) Build 2 dragoons in Poland, as many as you can in Konigsberg.
3) Trade agreements with Russia and Sweden.
4) Research whatever from this point.
End turn

Fourth turn:
1) Put down rebellion in West Prussia.
2) Build two dragoons in Lithuania, send troops to take Minsk. Replenish.
3) Build as many dragoons in Poland as possible. Build line in Konigsberg if you can. Move anything built in Konigsberg to Poland.
End turn

Fifth turn:
1) Move stack in Minsk towards Godolya (last Polish province).
2) Move dragoons in Lithuania to Minsk.
3) Put down rebellion in Poland.
4) Destroy inn, replace with school in Lithuania.
End turn

Sixth turn:
1) Moving towards Goldonya.
End turn (Austria should attack during mid-turn)

Seventh turn:
1) Move stack in Saxony to Bohemia, take city, repair/replenish, move stack as close as possible to Silesia.
2) Take Goldonya with eastern 4 line infantry (they've now just about made a full circle).
3) Trade agreement with Ottoman Empire. Poland destroyed.
4) Beat back any invasion by Austria into Poland or West Prussia.
End turn (Austria will attack your stack near Silesia mid-turn, you must win this battle) Bavaria will declare war.

Eighth turn:
1) Take Silesia. Repair/replenish.
2) Make peace/trade agreement with Austria even if it means giving them all of your tech.
3) Move dragoons from Minsk towards Goldonya.
4) Move stack in Silesia towards Saxony.
End turn

Ninth turn:
1) Attack Bavarian stack that showed up near Saxony with your own. Advance towards Munich.
2) Keep building dragoons in Poland until public unrest is quelled. Keep an eye on other provinces happiness levels.
End turn

Tenth turn:
1) Attack and take Munich in Bavaria. Repair/replenish.
2) Make trade agreement with Wurtemburg.

And there you have it, a step by step guide to your first ten turns as Prussia. From a starting position of just Brandenburg and East Prussia, you have added:
Saxony
Bohemia & Moravia
Bavaria
Silesia
West Prussia
Poland
Lithuania
Belarus
Goldynia

Plenty of lebensraum to play around with now!

Some tips:
Dragoons and line infantry should be the only units you ever build in the beginning. A single unit of dragoons gets double the policing bonus of militia and is both cheaper to build and to maintain. Cavalry is semi-useless and artillery will only slow you down. This early in the game, nothing can stop a 6-8 stack of Prussian line infantry and a competent general. You will however, be outnumbered in almost every battle so make sure you take advantage of the terrain, especially stone walls.

You now possess eleven territories and six schools in ten turns. From this point you can either turtle up and focus on your neglected economy or keep pushing out the boundaries of your fledgling empire. The sky is the limit!
"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don't you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough."

but you still have to fight across 3 theatres, not an easy feat with france and spains navies out to get you, limiting reinforcements and trade, whiche you need to keep 3 theatres active.

I usually try to get france a soon as possible and then try to block spain armies while getting france and then push to spain.
But not having enemy armies invading you was a big advantage.
After you get spain and france you could take abit of time to get the rest of europe.
I usually left america for last.
