Commercial lager in the UK is mostly rubbish, if you look closely at the can you'll see they're generally produced by one company, including 'imported' brands.

Of those on the list, Yuengling is probably the best, followed by Dos Equis. But YL is predominantly a US east coast thing. It's actually a pretty good beer. Bud Light and Corona aren't even in the same class.

Drink more, you'll acquire the taste in time.

It's good to know your beers, so you can get an understanding of what kinds of flavours to expect.

Here's a really shit explanation from me, anyone feel free to improve it. I might have some stuff wrong too but it gives one a general idea.

Draught: bitter, hoppy tasting beer.
Lager: lighter, gassy tasting beer. Not as bitter as draught. You can get pale versions like Corona, etc. which make a good summertime beer.
Pilsner: a type of lager but lighter and not as gassy.
Stout: dark, bitter and malty. Think of a beer that's still deciding whether it wants to be a guinness or remain a beer. Good for winter.
Ale: sweeter, malty tasting beer. A little like a stout but not as heavy. You can get this in pale varities too.
