hahaha finray is blaming him sucking on undiagnosed asperger's.

the problem nowadays is that everything becomes a symptom... all behaviour has been medicalised.

'normal' is now some abstract state that every one is, more or less, some deviation of and always striving towards.

you don't have asperger's, finray. you were just too busy playing WoW to do well in your exams. that's not a mental illness. i imagine it insults people that do genuinely have a mental illness.

he did? i'd say that opinion comes from personal experience... having doctors try to diagnose me with shit when really it's because I WAS DOING WAY TOO MANY DRUGS AT THE TIME. not everything is some deep rooted mental disorder. aren't there technically more people in america on anti-depressants and anxiety pills than suffering from AIDS and cancer put together? somehow i don't think there's an actual epidemic... it just makes a shitload of money and keeps some pseudo-doctors employed.

i actually bothered doing it, considering i've fucked my brain three different ways over the last year... and answered very honestly... and i was highly normal. it said i had less intellectual power than you, finray, and that i was quite the physical-hunter (i'm a music fan, a fan of high-art and a bookworm). it's a load of bullshit.

i've seen them all, at varying times. only seen his latest one most recently, though, when it was aired on the bbc. definitely a good thing to watch. i remember watching the century of the self about 4 times in a week when i was 15, and thinking it had changed my entire life outlook, haha. kind of like a more substantiated and academic version of 'zeitgeist' or 'loose change' or whatever those bullshit OPEN YR MIND MAAAN films were called. mind you, curtis is an amazing documentary maker, but he still glosses over things and over-simplifies to suit his argument/idea. the beauty of his work is the archival footage (religious archaeology of old videos) and the way he connects lots of seemingly disparate disciplines, theories and ideas. it's fun to watch him sort of cartwheel his way from politics to sociology to philosophy to certain events etc.etc...
