I'm divided on whether to get this. I like the movement although I don't think it's as extensive as previously promised, (they basically promised Mirror's Edge-style movement and I'm yet to see much evidence of this.) Could be fun but I think it'll be one of those games that dies out pretty fast which means the only option to get the most value out of it would be to get it on release but I don't think I want to pay release prices...

Hmm...

It is in there, I cant find any videos without lots of stupid developer talk but I have seen a video that shows it and how holding/tapping the button at the right times will influence how far you can jump or what maneuver you do. I am sure it is not nearly as extensive as ME movement though.

This one shows it a bit without any stupid developers talking/cutting to them talking.

As far as how well this game is going do, I am not sure how well it will translate to the CoD loving console crowd (being more than just deathmatch) and if it isnt tweaked for the PC in regards to the gunplay then it will get the metacritic console port downrank treatment.

I´m still looking forward to this. The movement possibilities and customization might turn the matches into a giang clusterfuck though.

Half-Life had the duck-jump since 1998.
Far Cry 2 had a sliding/shooting combo.
Thief had ledge climbing since 1998.
Jedi Knight and Prince of Persia had wall running.

A few fancy animations, but other than that, nothing new in the movement department can be seen in that video.

Also:
LOL at that magic rotating "radar" station. That thing is 1 meter high and placed between scrapped tanker.
How stupid must players be to believe something like that?

Well yeh that is obvious. Bit of a difference between some games having some parts of it to one game having all of it. Multiplayer is really the key thing here. Mirrors edge had all of it but it wasnt multiplayer (not that it wasnt a fantastic game, its just a different thing).

Having all of those different movement gimmicks without one would not be that interesting to me, its the full combination that makes it more interesting. I had a lot of fun with FEAR multiplayer purely because of the sliding/jump kicking - anything that is more dynamic than just shooting/hitting.

Whats this radar station thing? I havent noticed it.

Default teams are 8v8 (but I doubt that will be common for PC because dedicated servers can change it).

Yeh, this is a video with hard bots and someone who can actually play playing/. Also, the bot names are awesome.

Still not a whole lot of recoil going on but the aim assistance off it looks a bit better.

edit: God I am writing a lot of shit about this game. I dont think it will be best game evaaar or anything. I just think it is worth not dismissing immediately as console trash.

what really matters is the finesse behind the movement related to actual combat. Doesn't matter if you can parkour across the map when you still have to ironsight mouse1 to win a fight

the game looks like a mess. what is it trying to be? clunky hack-attempt at quake/ut movement with modern warfare guns and all of the chaos and bullshit from games like bc2? it looks rubbish. jack of all trades.

Urgh the sooner FPS games drop iron sights and 'jam on the screen' the better. It's so tiring.

iron sights are fine, you faggots just never played any of the early games that used them well, like cod1/cod2

lots of recoil and guns that hurt, ironsights were the bomb then

They're just hassle. I remember when I first played CoD it was amazing and felt really realistic. But these days you're forced to use them every time you fire the gun in most games and it's just annoying. In multiplayer games it's annoying anyway.

I liked the way BF2 used them. You could use the iron sights, but you didn't have to at all.

The problem with iron sights is that they are used too often in conjunction with zero deviation laser aim. Basically you can just hold down your fire button and hit what you are looking at regardless of range, which makes it way easy to camp and devalues other play-styles.

CoD1 versus CoD* is the prefect example, the guns in CoD1 felt like real guns, while in future cods, felt like laser guns.

you could also shoot the guns in cod1/cod2 without iron sights as a perfectly viable (and preferable) strategy at close-mid range

CoD2 did have laser aiming though. People just didn't realize it because for some reason.

it wasn't as bad as cod4... guns still had a learning curve

It was just that the guns had a significantly lower damage-per-second back then, so it wasn't always true that the first person to start shooting was the one who won the fight, as was with most future CoD games.

You know what; Brink is a game where I would fully appreciate having a demo of. As it is I've seen videos and commentaries and read stuff about it so I want to give this game a try but I certainly don't want to buy it yet.

kinda missing the point... why would it matter if bolt-guns have laser aim? that's called hitscan... that's fine in a high-skill fps

I have seen plenty of flawless PC footage from normal players, at worst it is similar to BC2's launch which was a giant mess but ended up in a good game. inb4 all the BC2 is crap! comments. Also, a lot of reviews are playing against bots which is retarded.
