Minor mistake?
What about
Anna Esposito, wrote to Suffolk Superior Crown Court in Boston, US, to explain that a mistake had been made, but a jury commissioner replied saying the cat, named Tabby Sal, "must attend" on March 23.
Ya muppet.
Well, if the cat didn't go, what would happen? They could issue a bench warrant...to arrest the cat. Good luck with that jury commissioner!
Seriously though, the commissioner probably didn't fully understand that it was a cat, or assumed she was lying to get out of jury duty, or something. I've been excused from jury duty without any trouble--I just had to call, explain my situation (I was moving out of the county one week prior to the duty date), and fax over proof.
