I think I may just play some Far Cry 2 now.
everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously. ♥
FC2 is a lot better seeing as how there is no story and also everything is completely linear and makes no use of the huge empty world.globefish23 wrote:
I've only just started playing the single-player campaign of Far Cry 2, and so far, the whole setting in an African war-torn country is quite a unique, yet alarmingly realistic scenario.
Not your typical generic "bad Russkie", "crazy ME terrorists", "invading commies or "hordes of aliens/zombies" game that has been used for the last 20 years now.
I haven't yet seen any of the flaws you mentioned.
The only thing that I found a bit annoying was the parts in the beginning where you didn't do much, except watching cut-scenes. Tutorial stuff for newbies, I suppose.
Gaining friendships was a bit awkward:
-Rescue Indian guy from locker
-Grateful. Gives hint where to meet him for medicine.
-->New best buddy
-Approach dude at the bar.
-Replies: "Yeah?"
--> New second best buddy.
The multiplayer part is surprisingly good.
Large maps with lots of buildings, terrain and vegetation to hide and sneak around in, as well as vehicles.
The "Uprising" game mode is a team-based mix between capturing points followed by assassinating the enemy captain.
All in all, this game IMO is better than the first Far Cry in about every aspect.
I quite like free-roam, open-world games and FC2 does a decent job so far.
Because honestly, even top games in that genre from the GTA franchise have been the same over and over again in the past 10 years, but still it's always the same go to point A, kill some guys, report back to point B, oh-no, kill more guys, escape to point C. With everything regarding the story being cutscenes.
The fuck?What device sold faster after its launch than the iPad, the iPhone or the Amazon Kindle? If you guessed the Microsoft Kinect, then you're right!
Guinness World Records announced on Wednesday that the Kinect, a controller-free gaming peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, is now the "Fastest-Selling Consumer Electronics Device" on the planet.
According to a Guinness blog post, customers purchased 8 million Kinect units during the product's first 60 days on the market (from 4 November 2010 through 3 January 2011)--that's a rate of 133,333 units per day!
"[N]o other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span," said Gaz Deaves, editor of Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition, which will feature the Kinect in its next release.
There are a lot more things awkward, then just your miracle talent of making friendships ingame. Enemy AI, or rather the lack of it (sniper rifle = godmode). The ridiculous spawning of enemies once you left the killzone for 10 meters. The fact that despite the realistic approach regarding to setting, a whole country at the brink of civil war diverts resources and endless manpower to take down one single guy. You.globefish23 wrote:

I disagree. Far Cry was fun and fresh. Far Cry 2 was ok, but had some pretty awkwardly-implemented things that should have been polished up a bit before release.globefish23 wrote:

Going to see it tomorrow night. Hope it's good.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

On steam for 9 bucks. Visuals don't look all that bad. Anyone else considering it?
Jesus christ I could only take 1 minute of that because of him saying "sards" instead of "swords".

Saw it on the xbox live marketplace, looked like shit. Will not buy, games that come out in line with a major film tend to suck balls.Sisco wrote:

So there is. Not been updated in a while, tbh I do remember seeing it now but I had completely forgotten that this was even coming out.unnamednewbie13 wrote:
