The original "When the Levee Breaks" was recorded by the blues musical duo Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie. Led Zeppelin recorded its version of the song in December 1970 at Headley Grange, where the band used the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio. The song had earlier been tried unsuccessfully by the band at Island Studios at the beginning of the recording sessions for their fourth album.

The Led Zeppelin version features a distinctive pounding drum beat by John Bonham, driving guitars and a wailing harmonica, all presumably meant to symbolize the relentless storm that threatens to break the levee, backing a powerful vocal performance by vocalist Robert Plant. The vocals were processed differently on each verse, sometimes with phasing added. Plant had the original McCoy and Minnie recording in his personal collection. He removed and rearranged lines and line parts from the original song and added new lyrical parts (again, the lyrics focused on the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927), and combined it with a revamped melody.

This one obviously falls under Rock. It's an old hymn from long before Page or Plant and actually falls under Blues (which is what Zeppelin started singing before they turned to rock, though ironically this is from a later album). Its about the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927.

The song has received positive reviews from critics who complimented the song's effective lyrics and chorus, and commended Ludacris' part and the song's ability to have an urban twist. It has become Bieber's biggest hit to date, peaking at number one in France, and charting in the top ten of the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Australia, Norway, Japan, Ireland, Hungary, Belgium (Flanders), Ireland, Slovakia, and New Zealand. The accompanying music video takes place in a mall/bowling-alley setting. The video features several cameos such as Drake and Lil Twist, in which Bieber chases after a girl. In July 2010, the video became the most viewed video in YouTube history. Bieber performed the song several times, including Saturday Night Live, and the ninth season of American Idol. Bieber also performed an acoustic rendition of the remix version with Drake at the 2010 Juno Awards. The official remix in the United Kingdom features British hip-hop artist Chipmunk.

from the creative hotbed of the volcanic london bass scene comes 502 recording's first big vinyl release of 2011: teeth's 'shawty'. a smalltime finnish producer with so much oomph that he was signed by 2010's top dj, oneman, to his own label.
'shawty' furthers the bass continuum of catchy, unavoidable and unforgettable tracks built around repetitious samples and cut up drops and drops. paying equal homage to the oldschool gear that birthed techno culture and the r&b mainstream that has nurtured and birthed so many hooky lines over the last 10 years- shawty is set to blow up at forward-looking nights and bass-addict dancefloors all over.
similar to boddika's current vibe, especially 'when i dip', and the ubiquitous swamp81 hand-raiser 'sicko cell'. for everyone and anyone currently pondering the state and direction of dance/bass music.
