They did, but there's only so long they can keep it kicking.

http://twitter.com/#!/nickbreckon/statu … 4991069184Elder Scrolls V is being built using an "all-new" engine: "We can now confirm that the TES V: Skyrim engine is all-new. And it looks fantastic."
oh cool so there's still hope
I'm kind of looking forward to this game, but I'm not going to get terribly excited about it until I can actually try it.
Yeah this was what Oblivion was supposedly going to be:
I remember that video, but I didn't remember that lady setting her dog on fire.

Good article on the new engine being used. Thank God they're done with Gamebryo. I guess FO:NV will be the last Bethesda dev'd/published game to use it.

That article made me pretty excited, lol. Now I'm just curious about what DirectX version it will be, what the stability will be like, whether they will utilize EAX/OpenAL or some kind of better form of audio API than what they had, and whether there will still be incredibly overpowered enemies that you almost can't possibly contend with like Will-O-The-Wisps from Oblivion(they pretty much killed the game for my brother), Deathclaws from FO3 and NV and Cazadores from NV(based on how fast and resilient they are invidividually plus how they're almost always in unbreakable packs of other ones, you can only get through one before the other 3 kill you).
Which reminds me, they'll be using all of this cool new engine stuff for the next Fallout too, which will be very interesting to see. Gamebryo was great for Oblivion but it never did either Fallout game justice, NV was a lot better but it still wasn't what it should've been.

the sound trailers made me want the game the most.
While this makes me a little interested in the game... If the new engine has just half the amount of bugs the old one did, it will be horriblePoseidon wrote:

But only half as horrible at least. You'll still have better graphics and more intelligent AI so it'll be worth CTDing forFloppY_ wrote:

By more intelligent do you mean "runs away as soon as it sees the PC?"_j5689_ wrote:

it's an old fart but it's worked well.
i only had to replace my machine which was pretty much the exact same (8800GTX SLI instead of Ultra) a few months ago because the PSU/mobo fried. one of the best last-gen hardware set-ups imo... such a lifespan! but yeah you'll probably need a new system, if only for the DX11 stuff.

Engine looks slick. Animation seems to be massively improved.
