yeah, realised that now just seemed easier when I was applying first time to go with catered. They were also about 1 to 1.5 miles from the uni and fairly central so that was another massive plus. The self catered ones were near hampstead heath.

I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.

Reason I ask is a mate used to have a job installing car stereos, for about 6 years. In that time he learned a LOT about the trade, and when installing mine (which was although decent Pioneer gear, it was second hand) he told me that he read about some magazine that did some listening tests with some of the best sound engineers in New York. They could not tell the difference in quality between a $1,000 system and a $15,000 system of the same wattage and speaker setup and eq.

So a lot of it is wank, IMO. Unless you want a lot of headroom at high volume.

I'm on a limited budget so I'm happy to wait longer to get something that performs way above its price grade. Especially if it's going to be something that'll last ~2 years at least.
