£800 isn't that huge of a loss, unless it's a significant portion of your income. Why did you buy a new PC if the one you had did a fine job at the games you play on it?Uzique wrote:
i actually regret dropping £800 on a new gaming pc this year... my biggest financial regret of the year, overall, in fact
i have used it for absolutely NOTHING. it is all industry hype. pc gaming may not be in decline but it's definitely caught up in utter bullshit
i haven't played a single game that i didn't/couldn't play on my rig built in 2007. the difference in quality/performance? negligible, really.
i was expecting a stepup similar to the previous tech step-up, i.e. AMD/DX9-> dual/quad-core/DX10. it just wasn't there.
you must have missed the 50 page tech forum thread where all of my tech went kaputt in-transit
£800 for a self-assembled PC is just about as much as i have ever spent, considering it would retail at £1k+
anything more than that and you're really shooting yourself in the foot with the price:performance and inevitable aging-costs
it was just a waste of money. pc gaming isn't going anywhere.

Hey, look at it this way, that's you not needing a PC for a good 3-4 years, and after that, well judging by the games of today compared to that of the bygone era, you won't even need a PC.Uzique wrote:

That is seriously cool, UltraMcFunk. In a nerdy way, but that really doesn't matter, does it.
I bought a copy of Orgazmo yesterday. I'm telling you this because what I suspected would happen, did happen. The clerk looked at me like I was buying a pornfilm. Stupid clerk, watch more movies, will ya!

Strokes macbook pro.
Having said that, you made the right decision, my mbp struggles with tf2, starcraft and obviously won't play bc2.
Fine with css, apart from the disgusting way OSX handles mouse input.
