rofl. i saw rusko live like 2 years ago... was more like a metal gig than an electronic show.

if i wanted to be surrounded by dumb, impressionable 16 year olds, jumping up and down like a lame puppy desperate for some identity and sense of belonging, i'd go to a my chemical romance gig. rusko is like the dj tiesto of dubstep when it comes to playing live. populist, cheesy, and satisfying only for the first 5 minutes. kind of like a post-coital encounter with a cheap prostitute; instant gratification, lifelong skepticism.

This will be next festival as well. I was getting worried I would not see Frenzal play before the year ended, I do so hate to break with tradition.

I think concerts are too expensive

A movie will give me the same entertainment for 1/4 the price

And I don't really care that much about music either

$130 for about 12 hours of entertainment doesn't seem to bad to me...

the mountain goats are fucking amazing.

also, the band all my friends were in during high-school had yeasayer as a supporting act, on their first ever european tour

Big Boi on Saturday!

btw how do you guys keep track of upcoming concerts? It was easy in my old town because I knew all the venues to keep track of, but in this city I only know of a few. Don't have many hip hop interested friends, so word of mouth is a fail.

I joined all the venues' Facebook pages/groups as well as the uni's music societies ("rock soc", "live soc", "aim [alternative & indie]" etc). Get spammed with music event invites every week. 'tis gud.

Last.fm does a good job of keeping track of it all, at least as far as I know. I should check up on it more often, though. So much good shit going down in LA that I don't find out about until the day of.

i peruse the local weeklies and go online, plus I'm on a lot of artist/labels mailing lists so my inbox gets inundated with constant concert notices.
