this is from the [CC] SMP RP server that I mentioned before, you can see a bunch of large towers and shit if you zoom in on the image.

I found a green record in a dungeon chest and built me a jukebox.
Now I just need to find the golden record.
Also, I created a small forward... ehrm... downhole outpost deep underground at lava level.
Basically just a small room with a door, housing a furnace, workbench and a large chest. That way I have an interim storage, and won't have to resurface. (I don't have enough iron for a minecart railway.)
And I think you only get them from chests in dungeons.
Now I just need to find the golden record.

You should take a lot of torches with you when going deep underground, as well a good supply of wood, so that you can create a workbench and new tools, should you run out.JohnG@lt wrote:

so anyway i managed to get a copy of this, and i went digging.
and digging and digging
so after about...7 ingame days of digging (big chamber, drop down 5 or so blocks make bigger chamber) all i found was a buttload of coal and some flint
i cant remember my game version atm but has iron+gold+THIS GAME IS NOW DIAMONDS been in the game for quite a while? am i just very unlucky?

Diamonds and iron are quite rare. Gold is useless, so doesn't matter if you find it or not.

I recommend using existing caves if you're looking for iron and coal.
you need to go deep for gold, diamond, and larger seams of iron.
I find that iron and coal tend to spawn around dirt and gravel seams underground...
Try going into natural caves, instead of digging your own quarry. Quarries tend to give lots less ores.
