first thoughts: video is pretty fucking disturbing, she looks like a rat and the song would probably be half decent if it was instrumental. listening to gaga howl alejandro got old halfway into the first listen.

and people that i, through independent thought and judgement arrived at before i had even heard of their names, agree with entirely

the sociological and artistic division is obvious and you'd have to use some pretty snake-tongued rhetoric to deny it

sorry but it's true, in the plainest and most frank terms i can put it

to a person interested in the arts the division is as clear as the difference between a well-designed bridge and a poorly-designed bridge to an engineer. because you don't know much about them or take a particular interest, thus marginalizing them, that does not mean that the arts are some area where there are no rules, divisions or disciplines. people interested in the arts can tell these differences easily and accept that they exist. you're bored of people interested in the arts telling you what is right and wrong because you're boring yourself making egregious statements with little-to-no actual knowledge backing them up. i can't help you there. i won't claim to say what is good or bad engineering according to my superficial personal tastes; i'll leave that to the experts. perhaps you should give kant and hume the same tolerance.

i guess that's why there are galleries and prizes and an entire institution devoted to the arts then, huh.

of course you know more than me on the subject, so allow me to just say: in engineering there is no difference between a properly-constructed suspension bridge and a poorly-constructed one. haha, what is your major egotistical problem in admitting that there are some things you just don't know enough about? in saying, okay, i lack the education and developed taste to enjoy the finer aspects of this area, but i wholly enjoy this anyway? enjoying what you enjoy, after all, is enough. but denying that a person with an education in, say, fine art, has no more of a 'taste' and a 'right' to knowledge on the subject than you... is just blind ego.
