In retrospective, all things tend to look a lot nicer than they actually were. As for Bf2, yes, it was a great game, but the horrid parts of it where pretty damn horrid.
I remember having a book lying next to my screen, because it could take half an hour to get into a game with the retarded load times, the constant crashes and connection losses.

Still, there has been no game like that. Although I preferred 2142 over 2, I played 2 for a longer period of time. Here´s hoping BFBC2 can fill the gap.

Oh man don't get me started. I only had 512mb of ram and a x300 on a P4, after 2 maps my game would crash, I would have to restart my computer, if I somehow loaded after the 2nd map i had a black screen halfway through the map, it was horrible lol

Hahaha, yeah. I upgraded to 2 gigs of ram after half-a year or so, that improved the situation. But I lost count how many times I sat there listening to the music while loading (it gets to you, when the MEC song played the third time in a row) just to crash when clicking ready.

Good times. not.

The concept of BF2 is why I played for so many years, not the game itself. Plus I could map the controls how I liked to my joystick. BF1943, BF:BC and Modern Combat I only could play for a few minutes before I got frustrated with the controls. To make things even more annoying when ever I buy a game on XBox or PS3 the triggers are always upside down to each other and there is nothing that can be done in any shooter Ive played to change it.

FPS belongs on PC.

PS: XBox still has the crappiest D-Pad in the history of gaming. The original Nintendo did a better job.

I said this before. Make jets land to reload bombs and LGMs. Then give AT guys stinger missiles as an unlock.
US Intervention tried that with Stingers. Jets got destroyed, so did heli's. They only got around it by making the aircraft even more powerful, e.g. A-10/AH-64

Most of the posts in here complaining about one thing or the other is due to you being bad.

I can relate to some of this, but the vast majority is down to lack of practice and just being a terrible player.

BF3 must be like BF2. Similar maps (Mashtuur, Sharqi, Songuah, Daqing, Kubra... All the classics). Just update the graphics, fix the netcode, add some small features and support the game the way they should.

tadaaaa, game of the century.

Haha the amount of effort it took this game to get working and all the hassle. Come to thing of it, BF2 was like crack in videogame form!

My main gripes with BF2 are the hit detection (very annoying as a sniper), netcode and the fact that every single player in the game gets 4 grenades. Jets are also annoying, especially on maps like Gulf or Wake.

haha when i registered to get that veteran thing, this is the email i got from EA:

Thank you for registering your copy of Battlefield 2™: Complete Collection for the PC Download!

Below is a FREE cheat code or game hint/tip to help you take your game to the next level.

Here's your game hint or tip:

Did you know the 16-player Great Wall map (multiplayer only) in Battlefield 2: Euro Force has a parachute spawn? It's the lower of the two spawn points in the top-left corner of the map. Remember to press 9 to open the parachute, then control your drift with the movement keys. The sooner you press 9, the farther you will drift.

We noticed you chose not to receive future emails to include similar hint/tips like this one and exclusive offers from EA.

Can't believe I missed this one on its initial release....good points.

4.  Patches - I used to get pissed off about the  1.3 patch and I never get mad about a game...Nothing sucks more than playing a pretty good round with about 10 tickets left when all of a sudden a tank goes flying by and a magazine is continuously reloading....then the dreaded "There is a problem with your connection" would pop up.  This happen so often that I'm not sure if I actually played a night without it happening at least two or three times.  They have, have, have, have to make sure they do their QoS testing before releasing a patch in BF3.

I've been saying all this shit since patch 1.2 in 2006.... i remember 1.03-1.12 i never had even close the fun i had on those versions on any other game ever or ever will again, i thought that a company had made the perfect game and then they dumbed it down for whiny bitchy noobs who couldnt shoot the ground if they tried.

my thoughts exactly, and i have said it to all the bf2s retards who think Bf2 is more fun now than it was in 2005. BF2 is an awesome game, but EA/DICE broke the game so bad its just not playable.

Battlefield 2 is dead, because no one wants to take responsibility.

The only thing I feel really made BF2 stand out from the others, was the high pace that has been reduced with every patch, dumbing its game play down to almost noob standards. I'm not saying I enjoyed the dolphin diving players who exploited the game mechanics in combination with poor net code were a good thing, but personally I feel the change to make prone in BF2 like BF2142 was a bad change.

The use of modern weapons and vehicles a large scale battle that allows for combined arms style team work, at its high pace is what kept me coming back.

IMO allot of the nerfs were overdone while many of the underlying problems remain undressed.

1)J10 was broke in the last patch instead of fixing the F35 hit area. It still gets hit with 99% of missiles so the original problem of it being a flying coffin is still there, now the J10 just inst fun to fly anymore.
2)The sky on Dragon Valley is still like staring into a flash light while the TV missile screen that was fine before on all other maps now is unusable in Leviathan. On top of that AA is still a pain to use and the hud in jets is still practically invisible on Dragon Valley.
3)The AA range increased instead of tv missile range being decreased has resulted in a ridiculous advantage for AA players on Ghost Town. Now You can be locked all the way inside of your main base while repairing from stinger sites.
4) Some people got better hit reg which is good, on the other hand I have noticed alot of missiles going threw armored vehicles especially TOWs threw APCs.
5) MEC littlebird is still trash...
6) Jump prone delay only in Special Forces remains from beta patch, now you cant jump threw windows anymore.
7) The Euro Fighter still has zero splash damage from its nose gun, this means unless a Typhoon pilot knows this you are safe in a stinger site from them hooray for that stupid shit.

On the bright side everyone who didn't have the boosters now has them, we don't need a CD to remain in our PC to play, and we don't need to modify our shortcuts to get BF2 to fit our screens. I do not count Blue Pearl as an improvement because it is one sided from the beginning of the match. If USMC make it to shore then they have the advantage, if they don't then they probably never will.
