The M4 is perfect. For close you can just spray and for long range you can single shot or fire a short, controlled burst.

Regarding that gun, the kick goes down faster on the M16, making it not totally redundant.

The M16 is more accurate long range. Close range it seems a bit lacking compared to the other rifles but you can carry a 40mm shotgun with it.
