nice fish steelie, do you guys use baitcasters or just spinning? i wanna try a baitcaster but don't have the money atm and it seems kinda hard lol.
btw, speaking of steelies, i was reading up on malibu creek out of interest (it's closed to protect the native steelhead runs, shit didn't even know they were out here but they're actually in a lot of the coastal creeks and shit apparently) and came across a story of a dude that caught steelhead out of the LA river, lol.
i've used both but prefer spinning gear... it's easy to use and catches just as many fish. steelhead are by far my preferred target. lightning fast runs and the hardest fighting fish you can hook. you have to put in the time though, and prepare for the worst weather. i've found myself standing in half-frozen winters in february, freezing my toes off just for a chance to hook one.
so i've heard, i wanna do some proper big fish fishing lol. targeting big salmon or steelhead, ya know?
btw i'm thinking about getting a decent fly fishing setup. just reading up a lot atm, figure i can get a nice little 3wt rod and a reel for $75 (read reviews, decent i guess, and i'd replace the fly line with something nice though)
@killer, what'd you catch?
