The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
How about preordering and cancelling the order after you got a keyWar Man wrote:

If you cancel your pre-order, your key is revoked.Mike<Eagle23> wrote:

http://twitter.com/EA/status/8297034094 : "Details on tomorrow's BFBC2 code giveaway: I have 50 codes that will be given away at 11:00 AM Pacific. Check back then for a chance to win"
http://twitter.com/matthewpruitt/status/8304504594 : "I'm going to be giving away BFBC2 PC beta codes tomorrow! #BFBC2" (these may be the same guy)
I recall for the PS3 beta, they would just post a message with a bunch of keys on the OfficialBFBC2 twitter feed ( http://twitter.com/OfficialBFBC2 ). The first person to register with the key gets in. You'd have to have downloaded the beta and installed it for this to work (to be at the reg screen).
You're not supposed to tell anyone about it.GullyFoyle wrote:

I'm suprised to find we wasn't able to download and install the client prior to the beta going live, would have saved some hassle.

yah there have literally been no good games that have felt worth the (ever inflating) price-tag.
even the old decent games, or not-so-old decent games, have taken a developmental downturn, e.g. team fortress 2, WoW, etc. the old safe options.
still on a q6600, 8800gtx sli 4gb ddr2 machine. doubt i'll ever upgrade this system. games just arent good enough to justify the expense.
if this game really is a breath of fresh air to the (competitive) pc gaming community, then i'll consider forking out some moolah.
frankly though, im holding my breath.

interested - what makes a game good to the ultra-competitive players? i'm hoping this doesn't turn into wic and have no public server player base at all, only a competitive oneif this game really is a breath of fresh air to the (competitive) pc gaming community
