does outdoor swimming count?
yes, it does;
Does Ice fishing count?
I can link turns pretty easily . I just have to make ajustments on the toes.
Thanks for the help though, I didn't expect any definitive answers from the internet. Perhaps Adams has an idea when he wakes up.

Next time you are out, put your weight forward, put your arms out side ways and point your left arm, if your natural, towards where you want to go, rotating the upper body and keeping your right arm facing in the opposite direction. This will let your body feel the weight distribution you need on the board to turn, and also teaches you proper turning technique, initiating with the front foot, instead of the back.
If you are using your back foot to turn (sliding it across the snow to change direction) its a bad technique unless you are speed checking. A proper turn will start on your front foot and follow through, and it feels very smooth. Some people prefer the back foot steering method over front, and its personal preference, but will show later on when learning to carve. Once you are in the turn though you can make changes with your back foot as wriggling your front foot with the weight on it isn't going to do much if it's on an edge..
A problem I had when I was first learning to ride when I tried to go toe, was I just tried to rock over to the edge instead of trying to make a turn like I would on my healside, with the front foot and the back following though, I would just kinda put the board onto its edge. Obviously it didn't work, but once I noticed what I was doing it was a pretty quick fix, you might be having that issue, but the arms out thing WILL fix it hopefully.
Also bevo, a few weeks back you said you were going to go look at some boots to buy, and I wrote up a huge novel on how to choose the right ones, but you left, with all my advice falling on deaf ears .

How are they? The are nice and stuff last I tried them, but not overly stiff, if that makes sense.

I like them. I obviously don't have much to compare with, since the only other boot i've put on in my life was a rental pos.Adams_BJ wrote:

Well they are decent. As long as they feel comfy and they make the board do what you tell it to do, what's to complain about?Bevo wrote:

Greetings from hirafu village and mt niseko
went snowmobiling for my wife's birthday yesterday.
I've done some skiing this winter. Stayed at a condo for a few days at Camelback in PA. Also went back to the same mountain for a day trip. Did a little ice skating at a local rink.
I'm going snowmobiling on Friday. Pow tour tomorrow but tbh we've been boarding in waist deep pow everyday so far

We don't have Winter.
We don't have Winter.
My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
Because winter> summer

Skeleton is fucking badass. Favorite winter olympic sport (behind Hockey, of course). Toboggan is good too.

Why are you wearing mirrored lenses on a day with cloud cover?
Visibility was perfect, very low altitude mountain.
For you skiers out there, a vid a buddy of mine is in next year. Looks pretty sick.

Who is he? Saw the trailer yesterday, can't wait, makes a nice change to see a ski movie with camera angles other than on the chopper or valley floor.
