i think it's the motivation for not knowing what you're talking about that is decisive... i.e. all the contrived people trying to 'find out' about dubstep, it's insincere as hell. they're only trying to find out what it is and get into it because they think it'll help their image or help them fit in to some ultra-cool new cabal... when really that sort of thing doesn't exist. just a lot of true fans suspiciously looking at a bunch of posey-bitches on dancefloors all over bristol and london.
that happens with any genre really though.  You don't go from knowing nothing about a genre/group to becoming a sage overnight.  There is always a feeling out process, a period of orientation and assimilation.  That's not a bad thing, but I agree with your point about the contrivedness (made up word? lolol) of seeking out 'hip' music and jumping on a bandwagon for image sakes.  See: pitchfork media and wannabe 'indie' fanboys that refer to pitchfork as their music bible.

The nice thing is that those wannabe hipsters are very easy to spot out and point and laugh at.

@Bevo: I think Wale is lacking in the originality department.  Sounds too much like everything else.  To me he sounds like a mix of Kanye and Lil Wayne both in sound and braggadocio lyrical content.  Cyne (one of the recommendations) is really climbing up my list of favorite acts.  They have great trip-hop chill beats and original rhymes and content too.  More philosophical.  People Under the Stairs is original new old-school style hip hop, simple minimalist meat and potatos type rap.  Visionaries are a legendary LA based underground hip hop group with a lot of talent in their lyricists and one of the best hip hop DJs in Rhettmatic from the Beat Junkies behind the 1s and 2s.  They lean toward positive uplifting raps.  Good stuff all around.

i do agree that he does have some of that mainstream "i'm the shit" shit, but I think he has more talent than kanye or lil wayne.

that said, i'll listen to kanye every once and a while so I don't really look towards rap/hip-hop with the same expectations you do

it's been around for a lot longer than little faggots like you and will continue to live for much longer

and best of all about that deal is that all the shitty over-the-top, boring and tacky dubstep will fade away with you musical-ADHD sufferers

and yeah wisp at one point was looking like the new-school aphex. his latest releases have been a bit unoriginal though

Yes, most absolutely do.  Quintessential Dub album and probably the one with the most visibility as a result of a few songs making it into GTA3.  Scientist is one of a handful of world-renowned dub masters.  Also check out Augustus Pablo, Mad Professor, Lee Perry, Sly and Robbie, Almagretta.

Dude, honestly what's wrong with it? Is the new bandwagon for dubstep fans hating on hardstyle/hardcore?

It sounds good imo.

bandwagon? it's been the perennial pastime of music fans to hate on hardstyle/hardcore FOREVER

hardcore music has always been the shit end of the electronic spectrum. uninventive, unoriginal, shit.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BA-BA BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM 4/4 FOR 2 HOURS

i guess it helps when you take as much ritalin as you do but to me this is aural rape

Dude you're saying every hardcore track sounds like that?...

Btw I don't even take Ritalin. I'm currently on an antibiotic called doxycycline for my acne. I hate putting pills and shit into my body, even antibiotics but whatever...

objectively, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to music

angerfist's songs are copy+pastes, to call that 'unique' says it all

True. I don't care wtf the beat is or what have you but if it sounds good to me and I like it I'll continue liking it.
