Because Ghost and Roach discovered the intel inside of Makarov's safe house that implicated Shepherd and Makarov, it makes them the "loose ends" to which the mission title refers. This is why Shepherd eliminates them. Though it is strange that Shepherd didn't inquire about whether they had actually looked at the intel, for if they hadn't he could have just kept them in the dark and spared them. Perhaps he was afraid that Soap and Price whom had also found similar intel, and had been ambushed by Shadow Company, would contact them sooner or later (ironically, just as Roach and Ghost are being executed Price contacts them) and wanted to preemptively remove any possible threats.

Capt. Price , Soap and Makarov being family related.... thats not a bad idea. maybe it will give the story more puch because quite frankly MW2's story line seems a bit bland for me. MW1 was not all that different either.

So I recently finished the SP...
Yeah they made it pretty obvious that Shepard was some glory hunting super villian. Well, not in terms of "I could see it coming" but in terms of how he was after he "turned baddie" or "Jumped the shark" as they say.... I still don't get why Brazil had such a huge and powerful Militia which practically turned Rio into a warzone.
Was abit dissapointed that he (Shepard) had some special secret shadow squad thing instead of regular US troops, would have spiced things up if it was just Rangers you were fighting, seeing as he's a US Rangers General or some shit, and seeing as you play half the game as a Ranger. I bet they pussied out from making the player have to fight "real" American soldiers.
How many people did I 'officially' die as in this game, lol. Ok, first it was Allen who gets Makarov'd. Then that poor bastard astronaut. Then Roach also gets a bitch death. Who else, I'm sure I've missed something. Ramirez and Soap should have technically died if it wasn't for Price saving their ass indirectly then directly...
Anyway it was a decent campaign. Pulling a knife out of your chest and then throwing it into the face of a United States General is one way to end a game, I guess.
