For any military members or those with good know how. I've been checking around various sites and never managed to get a particularly clear answer, so I'll ask here.

I need to know what the correct callsign would be for this scenario (in a book)

Four-man army team called Jericho-One. Now would the leader of this team be called Jericho-One-Six, Jericho-One-Actual, or something else? Also what would the second/third/fourth be generally?

Recent games have used things like -Six or - Actual, but I can't be sure how accurate they are. OFP2's callsigns were for the Marines as well and I don't know if they have a different setup.

Really racking my brains lately so I appreciate any help

I've used the moniker King Six on some other forums/sites/whatever. It just sounds cool. I think I heard it on Call of Duty 2 Singleplayer

Firstly you would not have a team named Jericho-One ... it would be just Jericho, Jericho 1 would be the leader of that team/squad ...

For movie purposes you can get away with anything so really it's up to you what you use ...

Platoon         --> Squad                  --> Team Leader

Jericho (1-6) --> Jericho (1-6)-(1-6) --> Jericho (1-6)-(1-6)-(1-6)

5-6 is reserver for CO and XO

I may be wrong. I can't remember what they taught us.

I think you're right.

Actual is when it is the actual person with that callsign speaking rather than just a radio operator or whatever.

If there is no "actual" designation, then you are speaking to the radio operator.  If there is an "actual" designation then it means you are speaking to the person the call sign represents, not someone else in his chain of  command.

Well if they wanted to make sense, the leader would be Jericho-One Alpha.

Hmm, so would this work. Its an SF team, so I dunno if that would make any differences to the standard practice but, I've read something about personal ID numbers and letters being added to denote a call sign. Anybody know what those would be? (Serial number, first letter of name etc?)

Also if the whole team's call sign was Jericho-One-Charlie, then would the leader be referred to as Jericho-One-Charlie Actual?

To use OFP's method, your fireteam was Dagger-One-Bravo and I assume Dagger-One the platoon callsign. Capone seemed to be the command element and Capone Actual was the commander. Would that be right?

Damn these complications!

Radio traffic over a military network is supposed to be as limited as possible, and ANY information that could possibly give hints to serial numbers and names is forbidden ...

As short as possible ... and as confusing as possible for those listening in ...

As mentioned for movie purposes I would use the example listed as used by the US Army in the link SenorToenails linked to ...

Its for a book, not a movie , which because I've not been in the military is not entirely accurate, but I wanted to make it feel authentic as much as I could.
