Well, my uncle gave me Dj Hero (he does some real djing at home so...) for christmas.
I was a bit skeptical at the game but after playing the game for a while it's really fun.
Most of the mixes are done well except for some horrendous ones (gwen stefani ones are dreadful).
My impressions are:
- Playing at Medium is easy, but i've started playing at hard and the gap between medium and hard is HUGE! You have to do so many things at once and fast, especially with the crossfader.
- The crossfader is fun and hard to use but i think it could be better, it does stop a bit in the middle but its not enough so many times i would go from left to right when i wanted to go to the center but i guess i will get used to it after awhile.
- The scracthing is pretty cool but since i'm playing on my regular table which arrives to my chest sometimes its a bit hard for me to scratch well, you would need to play with a table that is a bit lower or stand up like a real dj...which i'm def not going to do.
- The mixes, as i've said earlier there are some pretty cool ones, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGdyyob1ebE) <- Gorillaz Feel Good + Atomic, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMfJG0qE1uY) <- Bell Biv Devoe Poison vs Cameo Word Up!, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-_w0RNvsWc) <- Daft Punk megamix 1. These are some of my favorite ones but there are many many others that are pretty good.
- I just wish you had more freedom at mixing the song, the only freedom you get is by using the effects dial and the random freestyle sample noise you get to use at certain points but they are pretty bad...they don't really fit with the tracks. Perhaps if there was a section where you could just freestyle scratching and cross fading
All and all its a pretty good game, the difficulty curve is pretty steep, getting used to the crossfader and scratching at the same time takes some time but its pretty rewarding when you get to pull off very long streaks.
This game doesn't really get close to the real djing (I've tried djing a bit when organizing our after prom party as a friend of mine is a really good dj) but you won't really regret buying this game.
One last complaint...well not really a complaint but I wish there were more electro/house based tracks, like crookers or Bloody beetroots or Justice. Justice's Genesis is there but its just one track.
I give it a 8/10.
Anybody else have this game?
