BF2S Forums [Risen] A quite enjoyable single player RPG.

It´s already installed, havn´t found the time yet to test it. As far as I heard, it´s pretty good. And surprisingly bugfree.

It´s the inofficial successor of Gothic 3. After the third one failed hard due to horrendous bugs, Publisher and developer split up in argument and many left the company and build a new one, creating this.
It´s rather similar, combat is challenging, especially at first. Was always like that in the gothic series, a damn wolf would ruin your day.
I am a Gothic vet, if you could call it that, played the first 2 with all my heart numerous times, but the third one had too easy combat and was way too big. That´s why they cut down on that in Risen. Less content, but more enjoyable in exchange.

I prefered these games over many other RPG´s for the world they created. It´s dirty, the people curse a lot and quite frankly don´t give a shit about you and your problems. Many just look for their own advantage. And it´s less gay and fantasy-style than many others. No elves here!

So for anyone into RPG´s, go give it a spin! I must wait until the 18th of November has passed, since I got an important exam there, but after that...I can´t wait!

i played the shit out of gothic 1 and 2... ill have to look into this

Been there. It´s really good, although pretty tough in higher difficulty levels. And it´s so huge and long, I lost interest half-way through.

Same happened to gothic 3 for me. It´s so long, I forgot what I was supposed to do to follow the main plot. And why the fuck I was where I was.

Yeah, true. THe combat was weird though. Some direct/in-direct combat. "Click the mouse in the right moment" took quite some getting used to.


Anyways, my gf played risen the whole day (lol) and so far its pretty awesome. Especially when you played the gothic titles.

Been playing the shit out of this game the last two weeks. Cancelled my exam.lol.

Anyways, it´s really REALLY great. Combat is awesome, story is motivating and characters and the world is authentic. And beautiful!











It has some serious competition with the release of Dragon Age, but is well worth a look. Especially because it´s not the regular RPG setting and gameplay.

Got into the volcano yesterday night and that was the first time ever in this game I got really annoyed. It´s endless, confusing, there´s no map to utilise and it´s packed with super heavy lizardboys

Yea, a very good game, bit to easy boss fight thou imo. Ordinary fights are much harder lol. Is a bit easier if you use a shield thou, block is the one true lifesaver in that game. And if you pump enough points into swordfighting you're able to wield a 2h sword + shield enough power to kill even the lizardmen in just a couple of hits.

Yeah, although i got my ass handed to me by the Elite Lizard Warriors a few times in the krypts. Those bastards tend to come in packs, so it´s tough blocking them, especially when there is no bottleneck to line em up in.

I went with the bandits too, mastering sword and shield

My gf plays it as a Inquisition warrior, utilizing the staff. Looks pretty cool, too.

Hmm I might give this a shot after I finish Dragon Age

Is it for the xbox 360, just finished DA:O on it. Wanting another rpg now
