I'm using xp though (max of 3 gigs anyways). I have some 1 gig sticks of DDR2 lying around, but they're 666MHz and the four 512 sticks I have in it are 800MHz. I wish I had some 1066 for it. someday....

XP is only limited to <4GB of RAM if you have 32bit. I would guess with your system and 32 bit XP you would get about 3.5 recognized

If you dont mind driving down to Renton, watch for Fry's RAM specials, you can get occasionally get 4 gigs for ~20

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I have a wireless bt homehub router connected to a 8port netgear switch which runs my home network. I want a switch with atleast 2 wired connections and wireless, to plug into my cat5 wall socket in another room for the two PCs and the ps3(wireless) The wireless bt router gives a bad connection to the ps3 as its too far away. . Plenty of wireless repeaters on the market which are pricey. I can't find a switch with wireless and wired with no adsl router built in. It seams to be one or the other. Could some of you tech savvy people point me in the right direction, Preferably netgear. I worry I will order the wrong thing. Cheers in advance.

Stupid as hell, but wireless routers with AP, that you can disable DHCP are cheaper than just AP boxes.

The thing is that you don't put four 512MB sticks of RAM into a netbook.

That said, a stripped-down install of 7 will probably run just fine even on some crappy Atom.

Crappy Atom or not, with SSD, it's an energizer bunny when you have a long haul with no place to plug.

Yeah yeah yeah... well, I have unlimited copies of XP so I can't really be bothered to go pay for a copy of 7 atm.

Someday... but first I need to upgrade my RAM and my video card.

KCD, i don't think you will need to upgrade . . .

Sorry, I meant that I'm going to spend my money upgrading my RAM and video card just because I'm not unleashing my mobo's full potential yet. Streaming video from WinTV is laggy, and My LCD is designed for 1080p. My 7800GT seems to only want to output to 1080i so it's a bit fuzzy at that resolution. I had to lower my settings to 720p which is ok, but it's still kind of laggy. I want some 1333MHz RAM and a 9800GT or something... my mobo doesn't support SLI or RAID which is another major drawback.

Once SP1 comes out for Windows 7, I'll probably bite the bullet and buy the new OS.

There is no point in going with CF or SLi unless you have $1000 budget for graphics cards. Find me something that doesn't run on the GF100 thats coming for example.

You are far better off with one fast GPU than 2 slower.

Anyone know if this headset is good?

I plan to get a sound card like one of these with my next computer:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6829132006

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … _-29102019

Which would be best for games/music?

I'm hoping to keep the Sound Card under $100, but would go slightly higher if it's on sale & good value.

The D1 is PCI and doesn't need a Floppy Power connection, as far as I know.
The DX needs a Floppy Power connection, and is PCI-E.
