Found one in the woodyard in the first section, one near Jupiter at the second section, was in a little house thingy southeast of it IIRC, the third one was inside a mercenary base to the southwest at the first section. Still need the calibrating toolkit though.

Also, is it just me, or is SVD ammo terribly hard to get by? The information guy sells 10 or 20 rounds every now and then, but that's about it

Also, I went to the Jupiter plant, got attacked by a group of mercs when I picked up some plans, and one of them had a G36

Also found a Groza and a AS Val at the wrecked zombie village.

And an RPG-7 too from inside a weapon cage, only have 2 rockets and I don't really think I'm getting any more any soon though.

and yeah SVD ammo usually is, you'll probably only be able to buy it properly later in the game

I did the same thing in jupiter but didnt even like the G36, I'm still using the modded lr300 I pried from the cold dead hands of a mercenary

And how did you get inside that weapon cage?

When you are walking out of the building with the cage, go right and follow the wall, should find a document with a code, then you can go to the bunker under the cage and open
the code door, crawl through the bunker, kill about a dozen rats and you'll pop up inside the cage.

Edit: I'm currently using the LR-300, G36, SVD and Striker as my weapons.

Modified my suit to add an additional 10kg, so I can carry 60kg

LR-300 is my ninja weapon, G36E is my main weapon (it's awesome in close range), SVD for long range (obviously) and Striker for shotgun-rush-spamming

God I love this game.

There aren't enough 's in the world to express my anticipation for this game.

Two things I want need to know right this very second before I explode:
-How does the upgrade system work? Is it like CS's "all the guns are shit unless you drop 10k in upgrades but even then you may only get an accurate weapon or assault weapon, not both" system? And can you get combat armor that also defends against radiation/anomalies?
-Are the grenade launchers effective? If I get a direct hit on someone with it, will it actually kill them, unlike CS's GLs?

Pseudogiants are scary motherfuckers.

Also, mutants are a lot better now, for example the bloodsucker, instead of invisibility charging you, then constantly scratching you until you die, they do hit and runs, they only become visible for a short amount of time while they strike and then they run away.

They are also completely invisible from range now, you can see outlines when they get close and when they attack they become visible. Sound spotting + shotgun is your best bet.

I'm into Pripyat now, military guys are super nice, repairing my stuff for free, and giving me free ammo and supplies

Putting together a squad to break into pripyat, then going through the tunnel battling snorks and monoliths was EPIC.

Found a railgun, but the guy who had it was on a rooftop and dropped it, so it's broken, and I need schematics for it to repair

Still haven't got calibration tools

Prototype detector can detect the hot spots inside anomalies, so I can safely hunt for artifacts now

Got myself a PKM, although not using it ATM

Current weapons:
SVD, G36, VSS Vintorez, Striker. Weight is starting to be a problem at this point

Selling artifacts makes me swim in cash, so all my stuff is upgraded, the limiting factor is the toolkits...

Dis game is win!

Just disable the gimmicky stuff, got it running smoothly for me with an 8800gt on 1920x1200, DirectX10 mode

In order of importance

For the love of strelok don't enable AA
NO SSAO
NO god rays
Sun quality to low (makes no visual difference)
draw distance to 60% (no difference)
disable volumetric smoke

it should be getting ok at this point but for more fps:

lower AF
grass to 50%
disable Depth of Field
disable soft particles
disable volumetric light

also make sure you don't have any video options forced through your video card's drivers

Found two calibration tools in Pripyat

First was in basement of Department Store
Second was on second floor of old BWC

I still need another rough toolkit so I can get a sprinting exoskeleton

Gauss cannon is win btw, so is a fully upgraded SVD

OH YES! Just saw a chimera and two of those funky little hobbits in cloaks whatever they are called, those are all mutants that take a fucking shitload of ammo to kill, but one gauss hit per mutant was enough

That mission wasn't as cool as the mission in Pripyat. You had to investigate some building where a military guy was missing, I went into the building, and there he was shooting all around him. When I came close he put his gun to his head and killed himself.

2 seconds later a controller attacked me

Controllers are no match for the striker though.

Currently using a fully upgraded Military suit, only drawback is I can't use artifacts.

Would use my exo, but I don't have any sprint for it yet.

The German version of this game comes out on the 4th of November. The rumour Mill on another forum speculates that this version might have an English language attached to it. Any Germans out there that buy this can you please give us a heads up if that's true..... I can't bloody wait until next sodding year for this game. I'm more than happy to have the book and game box in German if it means l can use the game in English!

Yeah I found two, I only remember two places I found a kit though and those could be fine tools too:
the train in Jupiter with the electro anomaly
and the mercenary station in the south of the first area

Yep, was there not more than an hour ago. I was so fucking reluctant to get in, that place scared the living fuck out of me.

On another note, I just got the Clear Sky armor, from the delivery guy at the Creek. Fully upgraded it takes 4 artifacts and coupled with a good helmet, it has better anomaly protection than the SEVA, and decent armor as well

Now, I don't remember getting any tools from the train at jupiter, I pray that those are the second rough tools, so I can get a sprinting exo

Fucking impossible to follow the story with all those unsubtitled scenes lol.
