Can't say it does anything for me, couldn't get to the end of the song without getting annoyed by its constant droning.  Seems it's a bit like Jazz, in that you either love it or hate it (or Marmite for that matter ) I also hate Jazz and Marmite... Hmm, possible link maybe?

Anyhoo musical taste is all opinion so feel free to ignore me.

Shoegaze is great, but I couldn't get into the two tracks you posted. I haven't explored the genre much, but I like stuff by My Bloody Valentine and the early stuff by The Verve. Any suggestions along those lines?

I don't know anything about shoegaze or the death of marat but I actually liked the song in the OP a lot. I'll have to try the rest of the album sometime.

Kind of reminds me of "Kitchens of Distinction"
Also like "Catherine Wheel"   songs like Black Metallic and Crank
"Dinosaur Jr"
"Charlatans UK"
So many cool bands in the late 80s/early 90s

It's kinda like Robert Smith slowing down and remixing Corey Taylors voice with My Bloody Valentine on downers with the ghost of Ian Curtis.

Kinda.

Sounds good, but one would need the whole album and no distractions in order to appreciate it.

i like that analogy, donfck. it does blend a lot of shoegaze (i.e. my bloody valentine) with post-punk loud bits (ian curtis), and has lots of the melancholic and angry-charged moments to keep the album dynamic and not altogether too ambient. i really like the balance and the progression; it's not too wistful and dreamy-shoegaze, but it's not too jagged and 'hard', either. the slow moments emphasize the hard, loud ones and make them more pronounced. it's a really good album. in retrospect im not sure i would still call it the most perfect album i have ever heard, but it definitely does grow on you in time.
