Ok, I've got to ask. The guys who have like 80GB, do you just download every album of an artist you like? Or if someone recommends someone to you, you download everything they have?
I love music, but I have like 7GB of songs, and I thought that was alot. How long did it take you to get like 80GB?

The trick is not using Limewire to get one 56kbps song at a time.
My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
Yeh I know that. But like. There isn't 11,000 songs by artists I like. So do you just download anything or what?
No, I just have a vary varied taste in music. So I have a hell of a lot of artists.JakAttaK wrote:

I also hate people who download just one song from an artist. You either get the whole album or gtfo. Granted, maybe they only have a couple of good songs, but when I scroll through someones MP3 player and find it's missing whole albums, I rage.
+ 72GB Seedbox. Still need to dl the music.
Originally, i had twice that. my brother and i had bought different cd's, ripped them and swapped. we did the same with Napster. d/l, burned off, and swapped. i miss the original Napster, R.I.P.JakAttaK wrote:

300Gb+/-
About 10% FLAC, 70% V0/320, 20% 256CBR/VBR V2'ish stuff. A few sketchy demos, early EP's and rares in 128-192kbps.

1/10th or so of what I'd like to have. Alas, these dumb "musicians" and their "profits"... pah. Real money lies in merchandising - let me download all your music for free and i'll buy a shirt.

My bro transferred his over onto my PC, so about 50g. We have similar tastes in music. I reckon if I started sorting out my own, etc, it'd be around 15g.
Personally, I'm not the kind of person who goes around cherry-picking tracks I like and just downloading them only. I'm the kind of guy who will listen to the entire album all the way through and base my judgment on the artist/album that way. So that's one way to get a lot of music. Just keep your eyes/ears open and go music shopping at sweet record stores and it's easy to accumulate a bunch of music. A lot of my music in my library is ripped from my own collection of CDs or from my parents and siblings. Lastly, for a while my university had deals with various music companies, so students could download from their libraries legally and for free. So I went gung-ho and looked up every artist I liked/have heard of/was recommended. So that part is another large part of my collection.JakAttaK wrote:

I suppose if I pirated more, I'd have an outrageously large collection since I'd check out everything I've ever wanted. But I'm just CBA (too lazy and music is the one thing I love to spend money on, I feel the artists deserve it [I've got absolutely nothing against those who do pirate though, just not my thing]).
Just for proof:
Also bear in mind that about 100Gb of my recently-downloaded stuff remains in my torrent directories, seeding. I only add what I like and deem keep-worthy to my iTunes library, which serves as my main method of accessing and playing music. It's on a sort of rolling 3-month update plan. I rinse stuff on my iPod and in the quick-launch WMP to preview and decide whether I dig or not.
